Looking to buy some 16 inch wheels, most likely Rotas, to autocross in, but i am not sure about issues with offset and tire choice.
Current stock specs:
17x7 215/45 +55mm offset
Wanting to get the Rota Slipstreams which are:
16x7 +45mm offset
Will having a difference in the offset cause any problems?
Also, if possible i would like to go with a 225 tire but I dont know if i will run into any rubbing issues.
Any thoughts?
I would pick up 17x7's and some 225/45/17 falken azenis

I know that there are rubbing issues with running the 225 azenis from talking to other MSP owners.
so i am looking to run the 225 azenis on 16's

Thats the problem, only 215/45/16
Are the rubbing problems on stock wheels? I'm sure that could be solved w/ the right offset.

oh yeah, i forgot that they only have the 215s
As far as the offset problem, its hard to find aftermarket wheels that have a high offset, like a 55. the most i see normally is a 48mm.
azenis run fairly wide for their size i think....like a 205 in an azenis is more like a 225 in other tires. this is just what i've heard and seen somewhat demonstrated from pictures.
if that's the case, going with the 205's on those 16's may not be so bad, even with a 45 offset. what are alot of people on protege.net running?
and if you don't plan on lowering your car, you may have enough wheel gap that a little too high of an offset may not hurt. my front wheels are slightly sticking out of my fenders but i've never rubbed once.
good luck with it though man....the grip in that thing will be ridiculous!

I talked to one kid who is actually going to go with the same 16in wheel but run the Yokohama's ES100 in 225/45. He said that he knows two other MSP owners that have that same setup and they are lowered, so i think that i will be good to go.
any opinions on color?
I think its between flat black, gun metallic, or gun metallic w/polished lip.
pics can be seen here: Rota Slipstream
Also, anyone know the cheapest place that has Rota Slipstreams in stock. i found them for 500 shipped. Also, how much should i be able to get the 215/45 16 azenis for? the sight that has the rota wheels has them for 122 i think. could i do better somewhere else. although they will mount and balance for free in addition to free shipping.

straight gunmetal, then paint those calipers fire engine red.
talk to Stach about where he got his azenis, he did pretty good with the price on them. www.machV.com has good deals on rotas i think.

i like gunmetal or gunmetal w/ plolished lip *bling*
check out www.vulcantire.com for cheapo azenis i'm pretty sure they ship free, m+b shouldn't be too expensive, just don't get it done at Monroe's (for all those people still in the 'burg) they mounted my tires wrong, then didn't re-balance them when they corrected the mounting (2 of them anyway)
as cool as it is that monro gives us a 10% discount... they kinda suck at mounting tires. they scratched two of my wheels pretty nicely and initially put the tires on wrong.

yeah and of course everyone's heard my bitching and moaning about how they screwed up my clutch. i have no idea how you do that during a routine inspection, but they did.
