Sunglasses

Carrying two lenses on a bike ride that will last into the darkness, or enter technical terrain in a dark area, is a lot easier than carrying two pairs of sunglasses. I don't want to wear sun-blocking lenses at dusk/night when I need to protect my eyes. By the same token, I don't want to wear clear, or otherwise non-sun-blocking lenses in the sun. Just because you don't have a use for them doesn't mean nobody else does.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I didn't say no one did... just that they're overrated and cheaper, comparable solutions were available.

Although I think your example is flawed. Most of us use a tinted shield anyway so all you need is to stash a $10 of clear/yellow glasses under your seat and you're done. Tongue

Don't want to. THat's why i'm asking you guys.

I think that's a mistake. I'm all for lazy shopping but sunglasses is one of the few things that I still buy in a store. There are so many little variations in brand and models that someone else cannot possibly tell you what's going to be most comfortable for your face.

Yeah yeah. I just wanted some models and I'll go check them out. I hate shopping and trying shit on so anything that can be done to minimize that time would be great.

Last I checked, my bicycle helmet didn't come with a tinted shield.

If you're going to be working in heavily variable light conditions, yet still require eye protection, carrying a spare set of lenses is a lot easier than carrying two pairs of sunglasses.

What's your "cheaper, comparable" solution for my bicycle riding?

Go to a Sunglass Hut because they have the largest selection of brands and models to try on (at least 200). When you find the one you like, txt yourself the model number and then go home to buy it on the internet for cheaper.

That might not work because you're leaving soon but that's what I do.

Picked up a pair of Maui Jim Big Islands today, and I love 'em. They just have to last until I die, because this is the last pair of sunglasses I can afford...

Good call buddy, you're going to love them. I wish I still had my Sports.. I gave them to my little brother and bought some more professional looking MJs that aren't as comfortable :?

If I can afford to buy another pair of sunglasses like that soon I'll pick up another pair of Sports in a heartbeat... well worth the $.

Yea, my oakleys have made it through all sorts of abuse and are still going strong so I'll hold on to them until I finally break them.

I looked into the Maui sports but the price tag was just too much, seem like a great pair of sunglasses though.

Costas have really become popular lately.. not overwhelmingly expensive and seem to last well from what I've seen, just don't fit me well for whatever reason.

I haven't read through this entire thread, but just adding my quick opinion. I had a pair of Oakley polarized lenses but I got tired of them for driving. You notice a lot of strange colors in the UV tinted windows of cars. I also can't wear them in my helmet on track because the visor has oils in it and it was very distracting.

I bought a pair of Serengeti's that have a photo-cromatic lens. I don't know the specifics of the lens, but they are amazing when I drive on track. I can see through my visor just fine and can wear them on cloudy days and very bright days.

Oh and for wearing with a helmet- find sunglasses with very thin arms
