.....in the form of another car.

94 Civic VX. manual, 140,000 miles pretty good condition. some little cancer spots nothing major. interior looks great, seats are great. drives fine. no plans for it other than just a daily right now, but i'm sure i'll do some things to it. keeping the truck for now, but don't plan on it for long term. i'm being nudged really hard into taking it out to Verona next weekend with jason in his new ride. not going to happen though.....at least for now.

Nice! I, like every other Honda fanboi, have a soft spot for EGs. How much did you pay?

jason said i stole for $2300. i always said "if" i had to have a Honda, it would be a hatch. neighbor's fiance just got a new vehicle and he was taking her old car. we were wondering if he was selling it, so today i finally got a chance to ask. he was on his way to eBay with it before we intervened.

Pull the rear 'linings' underneath the rear wheel well, that will prevent any further rust.

Those things just trap moisture in, which leads to the rust. Other than, it looks really good shape, jealous. I love the white ones.

Great buy, it's nearly unpossible to find an unmolested VX hatch!

Time to start with the hypermiling mods...

Nice...

And yeah, I've been looking recently and it seems every 5 spd hatch from that era has a swapped something or other.

I really wish I hadn't wrecked my 94si :x

What does VX stand for? I know DX and LX, but my Honda knowledge fails me on VX.

It was like, super gas sipper model. I don't recall the specifics of the differences, but I believe it was lighter than the rest, and lacked on some creature comforts.

The VX is the gas economy model - it came with 13" wheels, other than steelies.

Also the motor is a VTEC-E motor, not really sure the specifics of it, but thats another difference.

Some other tidbits, has a OEM rear diffuser to help with gas mileage, and as Andrew said no A/C or PS (altho my red VX had AC).

it has the vtec-e from what i've found. supposed to be capable of 50mpg. the guy i bought it from said it will get that if you drive it right. he was getting high 30's to mid 40's driving the way he does. wieght on this thing is right around 2100. i don't know much about honda's so now i've got to learn all these new things. can't believe i'm doing this, but i'm already glancing at other motors for the possible future. 90hp just isn't going to cut it even if i'm not out to build it up.

this one has AC, i would gladly swap AC for PS anyday though.

I would just swap the transmission with an d16z6 (civic ex) transmission. Those long gears really kill any sort of fun you try to have.

found this little tidbit

Quote:In the SOHC VTEC-E implementation, only one intake cam-lobe is implemented on the camshaft. Actually it is really a flat "ring". In operation this means the relevant rocker arm will not be activated causing the engine to effectively work in 12-valve mode. This promotes a swirl action during the intake cycle. VTEC is used to activate the inactive valve, making the engine work in 16-valve mode in more demanding and higher rpm conditions. Honda was able to implement air-fuel mixture ratios of more than 20:1 in VTEC-E during the 12-valve operating mode. The SOHC VTEC-E engined EG-series Civic ETi is able to return fuel consumptions of as good as 20km/litre or better!!

That's sort of how the new VFR "VTEC" works.
