I hate hate hate to do this. I've been putting the 'what car to sell' decision off for too long, but I've finally made up my mind. I'm moving into DC this weekend, and city living doesn't accommodate owning two cars. So I'm going to keep my STi and unload Big Red.
The basics (chances are I'm missing a small thing here or there).
Car:
- 1990 325iS (161k on chassis)
- Brilliant red (car has been resprayed) on black. Paint is great.
- Has been garaged under my ownership (1.5 years)
- Only rust is a little below the battery tray in the trunk
Drivetrain:
- 1995 M3 3.0l (s50b30 us) with ~93k with e36 ZF gearbox (swap performed by Azevedo). Doesn't throw any CEL's.
- Good, consistent compression. 185-190 across all 6 cylinders.
- 3.73 lsd
- New parts on the motor: Spark plugs, ICV, rebuilt fuel injectors, FPR, fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter
- eBay headers Jet Hot coated black, brand new exhaust. It's loud.
Suspension/brakes:
- Full GC setup - rear barrel springs, cut front perches, camber plates
- Koni yellows
- Sparco bar
- New control arms with M3 bushings
- New tie rods
- New front brakes (OEM discs and Pagids)
Interior:
- Used to be tan, but I swapped in my black interior from my old 318i (door panels aren't saggy!)
- Grey cloth e21 Recaros
- Set up for heated seats (seats are not heated, though)
- Your choice of three steering wheels, OEM airbag, a Victor wheel that I LOVE, and an ugly Momo (I have hubs for both)
- Bavauto floormats
- Some Panasonic head unit with stock speakers
Exterior:
- Kerscher Futuras, 17x7.5" (215/40 ES100's) front, 17x8.5 rear (225/40 Nittos). Good tread on all tires. No bends.
- Genuine smoked Hella euro ellipsoids (+ smoked lamin-x)
- Genuine french fogs (+ smoke lamin-x)
- Euro trim
- Euro grilles
Goodies you get with it:
- Bosch clear Euro ellipsoids and chrome kidneys (for a more OEM front end if you want).
- Black powdercoated (or REALLY well painted) 14" basketweaves with good tread all seasons. Only 3 centercaps.
Only 'bad' things:
- Idle has always been kinda lopey
- There's a rattle (that kinda sounds like a raspy exhuast) under load
- The carpet from my 318 was cut so a rollbar could fit. The floormats cover (and are stiff enough to not sink into them) though. Pics at bottom.
- Rear deck/speakers are still tan
- A/C and ABS were removed during swap
- Car is 1/4 shadowlined (compare side pics)
Here's a vid of the first couple gears. You can see how the 3.73 is way too high for the e36 gearbox. I think the car would be a bit quicker overall if it had a slightly lower rear end, like a 3.25 or 3.46 (and yes, the parking brake was accidentally up a click for the vid). http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=578TQxGUMVA
$8900. Serious inquiries only - no tire kickers. Car will be located in northern Virginia for another week or two, and then I'm going to store it at my folk's place about a half hour away from Fredericksburg.
Onto the pics! Car is currently set as high as the GC's will allow for clearance purposes. She looks a lot better if it's an inch or so lower. I haven't really driven it much, but it got tons of looks when I did. Even caught a few strangers snapping pics of it.
