"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

VA doesn't have party registration. It's an open primary.

It's amazing how many people don't know about VA's open primaries. Actually, no it's not. Maybe more sad than anything.

On another note, there were only Democrats represented at my polling place. There were two white women there to support Hillary and two black men there support Obama. Could it be any more stereotypical?

Going after work here too. Doubt there will be a long line in Manassas, there are so few of us that are citizens.

I stand corrected, VA is in fact open, although you can only vote in 1 party's primary.
(and my voter registration did in fact ask for a party affiliation despite VA supposedly being non-affiliated voter registration.)

but calm down on the drama, its a primary, not an election. The media hype and exaggeration is disgusting.
do you need a voter registration card to vote in the primary or do you only need an ID?

you could have seen a minister and some christians representing Huckabee. (oh wait....thats politically incorrect...)

You only need proof of where you live. I brought my voter's card just in case, but all they needed was my license.

There's only drama when you perceive it.

I wasn't talking specifically about you, more about the dozen or so people I've heard say they're not voting because they aren't registered to a party. I just think it's disappointing that people know so little about the process, regardless of what level it's at.

You don't need a voter registration card to vote... ever. A government issued ID is enough.

when you talk about how sad and amazing it is that people are not intimately familar with the primary process, perhaps it is unintended, but that comes across to me as being overly dramatic.
Same as the overhyped media coverage on the primaries. Im not the only one who thinks so

Knowing when you can vote is intimately familiar? Sorry, I didn't realize I was buying into the big-bad-boogey-man media hype. FWIW, I haven't watched a single minute of media coverage about it and I agree with that thread. That doesn't mean I can't be disappointed that people don't know more about the process.
