04 Civic Question
#1
Obviously not mine, but a friend's 04 Civic is throwing the maint req'd light. Is that bad boy just mileage triggered and is it seperate from a check engine light or could it be one or the other? Someone let me know what it means and how to reset it if it just turns on by mileage or if it is actually throwing a code or not.

yup oil change reminder, believe it turns on every 7500 miles. There should be a reset button under the dash some where.

sorry i can't answer this 100% but on my old 01 accord, the maint' required is strictly a "bring it to the dealer for a wallet raping" dummy light. usually on a set milage increment for oil changes and such.

if it was a CEL, it would be an emmisions equipment related problem.

edit: beaten

You can turn it off yourself... on the newer cars, its not a button and the owners manual will tell you how to reset it.
