Well, there's something to be said for easy-to-consume Sci-Fi. If I read Asimov or Bear every day I'd be bored to tears.

I always thought that was a strength of Heinlein's...good, consumable sci-fi with a message behind it. Whether you agree with him or not, it was there, but it didn't really detract from the story.

At least, not until the end. Then it got pretty bad.

yeah i was on that kick for a while, Slaughterhouse-5 is actually what sparked my "classics" fling. Read Catcher in the Rye as well. But Catch-22 was horrible. I mean after the first few chapters I got the hint about catch-22s, but i just could not stand the book at all.

If I were ya'll I'd check out the Terry Pratchett. His discworld books are pretty sick.
