Can we have 3-4 worker spots to rotate new MMers throughout the weekend? If you tell me how many warm bodies you want, I can be incharge of making sure they are there.

I am a little concerned about having people that take up full weekend worker credit positions switch back and forth because it could get confusing and mess with the flow of things for grid and timing. I will ask Matt about it though or Matt, you can chime in here.
But we can definitely look at having some people doing brief shifts and receiving lunch for their time.

Hey Laura, I would be willing to help out friday if you guys need anything! I will email you, but it will be easier if you respond here.

I think it would be a better idea for people that want to get an experience of working to just tag along for half a day at a station and not necessarily organize anything, because flagging is critical and I agree with Laura that it might become a mess.

Do we know who is flagging/timing/gridding from MM? Maybe we can pair people up for half the day or quarter, and then the other quarter of a day, with another MMer. The people that are official could hand out the lunch coupons IF the person has actually worked, and not buggered around which would be my concern. That way Laura is assured that people are not interfering with actually working, get some experience to possible MM workers, and allows the other half of the day for MM people to enjoy the racing/drinking/bbqing.

i know how confusing the hyperfest organization stuff can get, so its best to email her instead of posting here because she's not always checking these forums. as for the flagging corps, NASA has a program that trains flaggers already in place so it'd be silly to try and replace that with an MM program. however, matt usually runs grid with jess and kaan usually runs tech, so perhaps they can chime in.

Based on last year's Friday workday, we may have a few more than we really need for Friday set-up. So if there is anyone who is not all that interested or has had other plans come up, let me know and I will let you know how things stand. I need to get more info from Chris on what is needed for that day for this particular event. Thanks!

Aaron if you guys want to get MMers used to what a race weekend is like don't have the Hyperfest weekend being the first time. I suggest they do a regular HPDE weekend.

If they want to do this, have the students commit to the whole weekend. After it they will really get an idea if it is right for them, and worth their time commitment.

A few hours here and there isn't going to give them an accurate assessment of what it is really like.

hahahahah, omg. I agree, we are asking way too much of the NASA staff that already work with us so well ins etting up hotel rooms, food, and payment. There should be no half-assing and making work on others to have everyone swapping around. Corner working is serious and to have all this confusion is not going to work well.

If a current student wants to work, WORK! If your not paired with a MM member then youll be paired with a nice NASA member and I have never had a single ounce of a problem with any of them.

For any current students that are interested, I will be working at Summit for October and September I beleive. Whatever the last two events are after VIR North in July. Hit me up if you would like to go and email Laura.

Its fun and you get credits. Hyperfizzle is too busy to rotate people around to see "what its like".

and hyperfest isnt what its like!... well that saturday is nothing like a regular weekend... people in the way, the crowds, TIGHT paddock areas, juggling 10 things at once, keeping an impound area clear with spectators and racers and crew, etc.

Laura... can we have passes made up for officials so they can travel from the paddock to the Hypfest activities with a golf cart? All i was doing was dropping off ice to you guys at the tent! I nearly killed the guy that tried to stop me last year... and for the rest of the weekend i had dreams of puring gas on him and flicking my cig ash in his general direction. Smile
