I read about this on the Subie forums. Two of those cars involved were just spectators... unfortunate to say the least. Just glad nobody was hurt.

wow
reminds me of the time where the finish of the auto-x was between 2 cement islands and a nice c4 vette hit one of the curbs

I'm not trying to hate, but do you think the gt3 owner said "yeah, i want you to throw on the ugliest vinyl you've got! Both sides please!"
Otherwise, awful deal. It makes me kind of nervous hearing all the bickering about insurance and losing the venue, and such. I'm certainly not ready to write off my car at this point.

If you encounter a dangerous course make sure your bring it up with the organizers *Do not drive outside the limits of your skills/car We've been to dozens and dozens of autocrosses and there's an accident at maybe one out of 50, if that. The chances of you getting in accident are pretty low.

I wouldn't worry about a thing. The only stories I hear of people doing any sort of damage is asshats in cars that are WAY faster than them, and... that's it. seriously, i've been to probably 30 autocrosses and i've never seen a car scratched.

Some of them are course design issues, some of them are just "shit happens". From what i've read (on the interweb... it must be true!) that this incident wasnt a course design issue, the driver just... fucked up and ran into a bunch of cars

Is it just me, or does this picture make anyone else laugh?
The pink shirt guy (driver) looks about how I'd imagine someone would look like after they wadded up a GT3.

i feel like their layout for the track must have been fscked.. or the area was small - i am not autox whore, but the hand full I have done, it would have been some effort to get to the other cars

Look at where the stopbox was, stupid stupid course design... You never have your stop box facing a bunch of cars for this EXACT reason.

Especially on a wet course, w/ a dipshit in a fast ass car. I've seen a few cars messed up, nothing serious, all were driver fuckups or car malfunctions (one dude brake calipers came off his mustang, another dude broke the spokes in his wheels, that was some funny shit).

Check out the thread on NASIOC... there is video of the finish in the vortex thread. It looks like more than plenty of runoff room. You can only do so much to account for some idiot flying into the paddock at 40 mph instead of stopping in the plenty-long stop box.

I remember now, he had to get it towed home because he cracked his radiator too. i do miss auto-xing though! I may go up to MD for the BMW event this saturday! Boobies and Sameer told me about it, i hope there are still spots left.
