I'm having one of those introspective days where I'm thinking about what I'm doing with my life. I'm not so sure about what I'm doing with mine. So, I figured I'd ask you all a question. I know that we all come from a somewhat similar background. We have some common interests. A lot of us are doing similar things.
What keeps you going? What picks you up when you're down? What direction are you going in and why? Enjoy.
Guitar, trips home to see friends, finding stuff to do to not be bored. Albeit I just moved a month and a half ago, so that might not count.

alot of my goals to improve my abilities and quality of life keep me going. its great to work hard at something and have it genuinely pay off. a good example would be my current job....took a ton of work and i had to suck it up working a crap job to get here but now i'm where i want to be.
family and friends do alot to keep me going. support, humor, common interests play a big part.
i try to make a point to keep my life simple, enjoy the details, take in all the knowlege i can and never take anything too seriously. i do alot of outdoors stuff and i love to build/create....its a great way to relax and challenge yourself in different ways. i don't knwo what i'd do without cars either, everything about them is awesome, from wrenching to driving to the communities....i get alot of enjoyment from that.

What keeps me going?
Knowing the fact that I am lucky for everything that I have, but at the same time, knowing that it could be lost all at once due to letting something et the better of me.
What picks me up when i am down?
Lots of stuff, A lot of times just sitting down and thinking helps out a lot. I love playing guitar, and sometimes that is a great stress relief. Also, having great friends who don't mind listening helps a bunch. Going and screwing around with race cars can be a great morale booster for myself as well.
What direction am I going in and why?
I'm shooting to be the best auto tech around for a lot of reasons. I love working on cars, and I love to learn more about them. I have a lot of support from the lead tech at work, and I plan to take advantage of that, because most people don't get that treatment. Its a goal that is possible to accomplish, and I don't want to let anyone down.
As far as life in general, I just want to have a decent life, and in my opinion, If I'm not having fun doing something, I shouldn't be doing it.

My priorities right now:
1. Pay off my car loan
2. Be the best damn environmental scientist I can be.
3. Study for the GRE's
4. Save for a downpayment on a house
5. Invest in my IRA, 401(k), and Money Market fund
6. See my girlfriend on the weekends
7. Inform myself on politics, economics, business, and world news daily.
