They are making new dollar coins. One will have James Maddy on it.

They need to give up on the damn dollar coin. We're NEVER going to embrace it. And they need to get rid of pennies while they're at it.

haven't read the article, but i'm guessing they hope it'll phase out the widespread use of quarters?

No - they want to get dollar coins in circulation because dollar bills dont last very long before they have to burned. A coin can stay in circulation for a century or more and you only have to mint it once.

Seriously. If it weren't for tolls, I would never use them.

I like the dollar coin when using the car wash booths around H-burg, pretty convenient instead of loading in 4 quarters and having half of them spit back out.

The article says a coins realistic life span is 30 years. Still much longer than a paper bill.

Yeah, i was just exaggerating. I'm just saying I bet there are a lot more old coins floating around than old bills.
