"I have a pony." Meaningless post.
What returns have you seen on your money market fund?
Sorry I misspoke but the IRA is coordinated with the S&P 500 and surprisingly that gave me a 15% return. Can't touch the money until I am 65 though. The money market fund savings account made 3%.

You get a savings with 4.75% and a checking account for free. Just set up direct deposit.
Or you get an even higher rate with schwab, capital one, (and more) and you don't need direct deposit.
Jack are there any fees or minimums?
What's the rate on the schwab acount? Citi was 5% like Capital One until a few days ago.
Schwab, I dont know. I think there might be a $2500 minimum. Cap One is what I use for my emergency fund. I switched from ING since their rates were higher. There's no minimum. No fees. etc. Cap one is at 4.88%. All uninvested money in Schwab gets a similar rate. ING is at 4.5%. Citi is at 4.75%. HSBC is giving 6% apparently on new accounts (i don't know the story on that though).
edit: HSBC is offering no min, no fee 6% until april. Then the rate sits at 5.05%. 4.75% is fine for me. I'm happy with their speed and service. (CapOne)

a lot of savings and investment companies are doing that because they want people to file their tax returns and then put it in their savings accounts. thats why they offer this deal until april. i think i'm gonna open up an account at hsbc or shwab. does anyone get bonuses for refering someone? if so, let me know and i'll refer you.
