My old roomate bought one - he was pretty pissed off about the gas mileage too. I think the reasoning was "if I get shitty mileage, it should go really fast - a 'vette gets shitty mileage but it has 400hp. This thing sucks!"

that's exactly my reasoning. if i can't break 18 mpg than i damn well better be able to lay rubber going into 2nd from all the power it should be making.

it's faster than the numbers suggest but i want V6 milage from my V6. a 25 year old engine design, bad aero and a fat ass don't help much.

Sorry, the mileage alone on a diesel truck makes it worth it. I must say that I am apalled that a small truck like the X can only get 18mpg, that's a damn shame.

My V6 Escape gets 18 on a good day... more often it's right around 17 even - that's with all city driving. It's sad that people with bigger cars and engines can get higher MPG than I can. You'd think that for the size, these "compact-ish" SUVs would be a little less hog like on the gas.
