Go ahead, make fun of me for listening to my Dad about how he thought it would be OK.
Long Story, more details later[/img]

Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Yeah, months ago when I put it together, I was waiting for a coworker to loan me his checker springs. Dad was in a hurry, so he decided It would be ok to finish up the engine, and not worry about it. Huge cam, stock everything else. Not good.

I hope nothing like this happens when I get the Daytona going. It seems like it has been so long sense I started putting stuff together...I hope I didn't fuck anything up.

It was and kind of still is, a rocker arm.
I also pulled the intake rocker off of cylinder #2 and its pushrod is also bent, but the rocker looks ok. I stopped there, because I figure the rest are fucked too. DO NOT CUT CORNERS ON ENGINE BUILDING

what did that come out of?
I have no idea what I'm looking at, but I'd say it is royally F'ed. Bummer dude

Dad has a 66 Mustang.
Engine is a 5.0 HO out of a Lincoln Bored .030 over forged rods, forged pistons, huge cam, strong comp valve springs, stock rockers, stockish pushrods. edelbrock performer rpm intake manifold, holley 4160 600 cfm 4 barrel carb. hedman headers you're looking at the pushrod side of the rocker, and as bad as it is, i don't think its royally fucked. the disadvantage to pushrod engine- pushrods, the advantage- pushrods take the beating and can be replaced, a lot of time no other damage occurs. I had planned on getting roller rockers anyway, so the rocker is not a massive loss, however, the valves may be bent.

Just a question: Would anyone like for me to do a How to post about cam selection, degreeing, and checking piston to valve clearance on a V8 engine?

I would like to learn more about that. Our 318 in the Challenger does not run because of to hot a cam and nothing else done. So I would like to learn more about why and what I can do to fix it.

Checker spring is a lightweight spring that you replace the valvespring with to check Piston-Valve clearance. It simply allows yo7u to push down on the valve with your hands.
And you can adjust Lash with short pushrods, or adjustable Rocker armns
