SRT-4 is a fantastic car. Chrysler opened a big old can on the rest of the imports.

I find it funny that guys driving honda shitboxes talk down about neons. Wink

ps- just in case you guys didnt know, Neons have won countless SCCA club racing and autoX national championships.

well so far the BandT motorsports neon with SRT4 swap with a upgrade in the turbo department... has 2000 miles on it. i go by the shop almost every day since its right next to work... and damned if that thing isnt on the lift every day. right now they are working with some ignition issues because the stock unit isnt hanlding things well... they are going to attempt to solve this problem before they stroke the motor. i wish them the best of luck but everyday i'm in there. the owner of the car (shop owners son) says he wishes he was driving a honda lol. there have been no major motor issues just lots of little bugs to work out. the best run (they are drag queens mostly) is a 12.94 in the quarter. though aparently the ignition issue is so bad they think they can go 12.2 to 12.1 when that whole issue is solved. i dont know how they are going to cut 8 tenths off with the ignition issue, and i dont ever claim to know turbo anything... but aparently its not an over engineered part on the car. and they wont talk dyno numbers so dont ask... stupid confidential racing crap Tongue

the car doesnt seem that bad... but even if its not a neon, it looks a hell of alot like one... and there IS a stigma attatched to that.

^^ That is quite a shocker. Amazing actually. You are telling me that a shop is having problems with a brand new car that they have modified extensively? You're anomalous ancedote has proven once and for all that the SRT-4 is a problematic car.

You are right. I won't call it a Neon but I will call it ugly like one. And that is the only real reason not to buy one. NO bling factor. None.

I didn't say anything about the car. But go over to www.clubrsx.com and you will start to hate the people who drive them. These are people who lose drag races and then talk about how amazing the k20a is and how things would have been if they were turbocharged. And when they lose to SRT-4's they go, well at least my car isn't a dodge pos that will fall apart and has a low resale value. Because Acura is JDM and having a quality interior will make up for lost races.

And I won't even bother to explain why cars with different drivetrains and engines cannot be considered the same car. If you are in a STi and your buddy is in a 2.5RS and you guys want to pretend you are driving the same car that is fine.

That is mainly due to the marketing scheme they took upon the car's initial release. I'm sure you remember the commercials. I'm not sure there is a more pussified (by the manufacturer) car on the road save the New Beetle.

On the track and in the lots, hell yeah they're beasts, but for a daily driver... how pussy.

Quit generalizing based on a ricer/drag racer forum. Head to Honda-Tech, handg out a few days, and I'm sure your opinion will have changed.

Based on this reasoning I'd be joking myself if I pulled up to a guy driving a 92-95 Civic Si and said "Oh cool, that car is a Civic just like mine!" Just because they came out of the factory with different motors? :?:
