Damn that would be cool as hell to see a prototype at SP. I'm sure it could easily pull 1:15 second lap times Confusedhock:

I wonder if the track will be open?

I would vote for under 1:15....

Maybe we should call the track and see if its open to spectators that day.

My guesstimate would be somewhere between 1:10 and 1:13.

Someone call the track, we should go and take some video Smile

Lap record is a Formula Atlantic doing 1:09.
An LMP1 car is ~1 second a lap slower than a Champ car which is definately faster than a FA (although Im too lazy to look up how much right now)
LMP2 can be just as fast and faster than a LMP1 car, as Porsche and Dyson have shown

I bet we will see the LMP2 car in the sub 1:05 range, maybe even under 1:00

I have seen a thread in which people tried to guess what certain race series cars lap times would be at SP.

F1 car? I say 57 seconds
LMP1 & 2? 1:03 - 1:05
Champ Car? 1:00

the FA record is 1:07 not 1:09
1:01-1:02 IMO is doable for the LMP2 car depending on how hard they push it and how the setup is.
they could just end up shaking the car down and running over endurance race type stuff since their first race is the petit lemans

I looked at the ChampCar Atlantic and LMP2 times at Portland and the fastest LMP2 was at 1:03.5 ish and the fastest Atlantic was a high 1:04. I have to think the current Atlantics are faster than on of the older ones that set the SP record so 1:05 and lower is definitely possible. Doubt they'd break the one minute barrier though.

Synchronize stopwatches gentlemen!

I'd be suprised if he had anything to do with the ALMS team, but any way we can get our names on the entry list for the track that day is ok with me Wink

If it involves Radicals he's got his hands in it typically. I don't know if he'll have any serious involvement with the ALMS team, but if there's Radicals at SP he'll be there for sure.

FAAAAKKKKK!!! I have to work and then leave from work to go to nationals...... getting in to SP to watch shouldnt be hard. unless the military is there, the place is usually wide open during the week. You probably will have to use the new gate.
