It was bound to happen...

Nah, I wouldn't have been able to pack my leathers and even if I could have I didn't want to be riding back the 4.5 hours to NOVA after a tiring day of riding.

I just got my motorcycle permit a couple days ago. I'm a true beginner but if and when I get a bike, I want it to be a sport bike. Do you think this course is for beginners? Also, my buddy got an '06 ZX-6...how did you like riding it?

Do yourself a favor and get something smaller/slower than a newer sportbike - it wont have enough power to scare you or get you in trouble.

Yeah a beginner can definitely get a lot from this course. I'd say take the MSF first, then ride a little bit on the street to be comfortable with the controls and turning at street speeds. I honestly didn't feel intimidated or overwhelmed at all but keep in mind I already knew VIR pretty well and I had a good deal of track days with tintops. But even then there were quite a few guys there who had never been on a racetrack.

I liked the ZX-6R plenty, good tractable power and confident handling. It didn't take anytime to feel comfortable on it. Honestly I can't think of a bad thing to say about the bike.

As for what you buy, it depends on a lot of things but a mid to late 90's 600 won't do you wrong.
