I think Travis is going to get an EVO when things settle down for him in the military.

ultimagtrlover Wrote:To be honest, the '06 STI look is growing on me. In pictures it's really ugly, but in reality it looks pretty agressive. Those lights help out a lot I think, and the interior materials are improved I believe nothing was changed on the interior between '05 and '06. Yes, it has grown on me some... only with a V-Limited lip on it though. I believe they are moving away from the aggressive look instead of towards it. However the front LSD was improved... the engine/tranny mounts were weakened and it got a little heavier. Nothing I would pay extra for.
ultimagtrlover Wrote:Uhhh, here's a question I have always pondered...Why is it that nobody from MM has an Evo????? Maybe someone here does, but I have yet to see one. I agree. Somebody get one and let me drive it so I can feel the difference.
On another note has anybody checked out the new '07 Limited STi. Comes with a V-Limited lip, a tiny lip spoiler, leather seats, a sun roof, heavier rims and black brake calipers (no more gold ). Weak in my opinion.. and all it did was add 88 lbs to the car, they should have brought over the S204. I know thats the classical American wants but if you are going to make a special edition, make it a special performer... not put WRX options into a STi. Sorry, had to vent.

Yeah the limited STI is dumb. Only 800 of them will be sold apparently. Did you notice they are rated at slightly less horsepower now too? I think it has to do with the new measurement system or something.

I can't find any pictures of it, but they have a new Pearl white color that might be pretty good looking. I always wanted the Legacy's pearl white on my car. Pretty much all they did was put a few JDM goodies that Americans have been buying and adding a bunch of "luxury" amenities to a rally bred car. Just silly. They should have built a car more proclaimed to competing with the performance characteristics of the MR... not that I could afford it anyways. I guess we'll have to see what 2008 brings.
John Wrote:Bill, you mention you're worried about S2000 depreciation since it's a vert, but have you considered insurance costs? While I do like STis, they are probably one of the most expensive cars to insure on the road. Having priced S2000s and STis, the Subie was about 50% more per year... once I got my quote, that was the end of any further thoughts of procuring a STi. Nah, I didn't - I figured four doors, not TONS faster, etc, etc...it'd be cheaper.
I was wrong. It's $400 more a year, according to Geico's quote (which told me it was $40 to add my e30, which ended up being $200, so I'm wary...
06 imprezas look fantastic. Originally I hated the whole alfa grill design style, but when the new Impreza front end came out, they really really pulled it off nice. Not quite as good as the OG bugeyes (but Im biased ) and far better than the 04/05s

I love the peanut eye look but the bugeye is still my all time favorite Subie.

You assumed incorrectly. Think of the clientele drawn to the STi... lots of power obcessed by teenage kids who plow it into a tree. Hell, the WRX was much more to insure than my 350Z at the standard rate... does make sense considering the 350Z has more power, costs more (my model being 8-10K over the WRX), and has two less doors.

On a side note, the 06 STi factory team looked really good at Summit for the SCCA Nationals the other weekend. They had three cars staged, and only ran two. Both ran 1-2 in the race... they have a large budget and are tearing apart the T2 class this year...

It was fun to watch the Icy/Pheonix Subaru Factory Race Team take the 2005 SCCA T2 Championship. Have that race saved on my computer... awesome race to watch.
