It was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Went in to just talk with the Toyota dealer to see what deals they had and such, and left in this truck. It has the extended cab like I want, power everything, a decent sound system, A/T, cap for the bed. One of the glaring flaws obviously is that the rear slider window is busted out. I was going to have them replace it, but I lowballed them so bad on the price and was literally walking out the door when they said they would meet my price if I took care of the window privately (they'd have to pay their service department to do it, as well as labor. Apparently their service department operates independently from them). No problem, I'll have Blue Ridge Auto Glass get me a new slider or find one at a junkyard.

It has some minor body dings and dents, but otherwise it's in pretty good shape. It's the V6 version which I'm fine with because I'm not really doing any towing. 110,400 miles. I'm hoping since it's a Yota it will last another 100,000 like my other one. Price?

$12,000 out the door. Tax, tags, all fees. The only real killer is going to be insurance, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it would be worth it to pay a little more in the long run to have a truck that *hopefully* I don't have to worry about breaking down on me every other day.

wow, 110k on the clock for a 2 year old truck, that is some haulin there :-). Sounds like an awesome price though and they are damn good trucks. The truck I drove at the dealership was a V6 longbed and I felt that it had plenty of power as long as I wasn't towing any massive loads. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Also, it is pretty typical that a dealership's sales dept. will still have to pay their service and parts department for anything. The trick is that they get them at a discount and it gets written into your deal. Essentially, you're paying less for the truck and just sending a little dough toward the other parts of the dealership.

I think I'm going to try to sell the cap. My last truck had a cap and while it was useful, it just invites me to throw tons of junk back there and never clean it out. Plus, having an open bed is 90% of the time more useful to me based on how I use this truck (hauling big stuff like windows, doors, lumber, etc.)

So I asked around to a couple of auto glass companies to see how much it costs to replace that sliding window.

FUCKING $700!!!!!!!!!

I laughed so hard when at least 2 places told me that... I think they thought I was being an asshole but I couldn't help it.

Apparently Toyota doesn't just sell that sliding glass piece, you have to buy the whole freaking rear windshield. So I went to home depot and bought a sheet of top of the line lexan for $13, $10 tint from auto zone, and I'm going to have one of my punchout guys cut it for me. The only thing I have to contend with now is finding a way to lock it, but I'm sure I can get creative ^_^.
