What happens when an oil filter doesn't seal correctly?

Worst 2 miles of bike handling I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. And it was even better when I got off the bike to discover that my entire left leg (boot to thigh) was covered in 10w40...

But, got a new filter and some new oil in there now - hopefully today will be better

I changed the oil last weekend - tried a different filter. The gasket didn't seat correctly - maybe I overtightened. Nothing really leaked until I revved it turning on to a 55mph road. Then it all came out Sad

Riding in this morning was fun. I tried a burnout to knock some of the oil off - well, the stupid thing caught traction and launched me into the ditch. Sean would've been proud  Didn't drop the bike though 8) And of course, even though my street was completely dry, about halfway to work (where all the cool curves are), it *had* rained last night, and oily tires and wet roads make for a very timid ride.

he had more fun than he is admitting... especially with the ditch! get a bucket of dish detergent and a spounge and make sure the tire gets wiped down. even though you are riding it and it feels fine you still should do it. make sure you didnt glaze it if you spun it at all.
