Crazy stuff... Apparently there was an AMG version of the Galant? An NA 4G63 pushing 170ish horses?
Anyone know more details? For instance, how AMG got involved with a Mitsu?

AMG was an independent tuner.
Mercedes then bought them
Front wheel drive, n/a 170hp. You pretty much said all there is to say.
And those of us in the DSM community are aware of its existance.

DJ hit the nail on the head. Nobody talks about it because, well, I mean, Galant VR4. Now maybe if AMG had got their hands on THAT...
Besides, Japan-only. Again.
Still, they were cool-as-hell lookin':

I was ten seconds away form buying a hyundai valvecover last night. But it is powdercoated the wrong color.
I'll probably try and pick up one in January (after I've been given more money then I need).

Sylvia's grandmother's car (Hyundai Excel) had what appeared to be a 2.6L Mitsu engine in it. Am I to assume this is why? Mitsu provided the engines to Hyundai back in the day? The intake manifold off her car was the same...exactly so... to the 2.6L intake manifold we had laying around in the basement, which came from a minivan.

Jeff- Mitsu supplied Hyundai with ALOT of engines, and I think held partial ownership for awhile.
Which is why you see alot of 4G63T elantras and stuff.
Now, back to galants.
Most galants had the SOHC 4G63, which sucked, but the GSR, GSX, and of course the VR-4 had the twin cam job, the VR-4 being turbo AWD, the GSX being NA AWD and the GSR being NA FWD.
Just in case anyone, you know, wanted one or something.
There was also the Dodge 2000GTX, but I think that was only in canada. Anyway, it's a Galant GSX.
