well this is kinda weird, but i got my car back from monroe today after having to leave it for a day to be inspected (they were really busy). i thought it was just in my head, but the clutch definitely engages higher up on the pedal now, and its engagement is much softer. when i pulled out of the lot, i practically slipped my clutch the whole way through second, it was so different. would this problem have to do with something that happened during the inspection procedure, or maybe if they test drove it? my clutch is hydraulic, so if i bleed my clutch fluid, is there a chance i can make my normal clutch feel return? the clutch is stock with 24k miles on it.
i hate my clutch feel now! any help would be appreciated!

Don't you hate that? The creeping suspicion that some dirty ass wrench monkey took your car for a joyride/burnout competition? :? Yes, bleeding it could make a change, but generaly hydraulics fail/change VERY slowly, doesn't seem that likely that you'd jump back in and notice a drastic difference. If it doesn't.... hell, even if it does, I would be kinda pissed. They did something! Did you check the mileage before you left it with them? :evil:
I HATE SHOPS. I have so rarely come away satisfied from anywhere. Low $ solution, leave a bunch of crap in your car-- CDs, books, papers, trash, computer and car parts, anything you can find, and you'll be able to tell if it's all shifted around. They probably wont even WANT to drive it with some old pizza boxes and nasty gym shoes left in there. High $ solutions? A datalogging chip? Or leave a g-tech hidden and running? 8)
dude, ive been breaking out in cold sweats thinking that somebody did drive the shizzle out of it, especially considering i left it there overnight. i keep looking at the gas gauge and thinking its lower than when i left it.....

Shops are supposed to take your mileage when you turn the car in. Make an accurate note of the mileage when you give it to them, and you can always tell if they drove it more than a 1 mile test drive.
The clutch slave cylinder on my miata went out pretty suddenly, but that was the opposite effect. Very very low clutch disengagement (could barely get it to disengage at all)
I really cant think of why it would be engaging/disengaging higher in the pedal stroke.
Monro does note the mileage when they take the car in. Just check it

well, more weirdness. got in the car and went to class this morning, clutch felt totally normal again, i was stoked. came back from class a few hours later, clutch is back to the shananigans it was doing yesterday when i got it back from monroe. this may sound retarded, but can the weather effect a clutch? the reason i say this is because during the colder months, ive noticed my clutch tends to be grabby somedays, and mushy on others (although not nearly as bad as the other day). in the warm months it is consistently "normal".
and no, this is not in my head, it really has been doing this. oh yeah, my car is still under warranty.

all subarus (i think 2002 and on) get free brake pads, clutches, wiper blades, etc under warranty. unfortunately, tires arent included...

I would say yes. Mine feels very different on cold morning compared to warm summer days. I also changes after running it for a while and getting all the "juices flowing."

yup, exedy seems to make very nice stuff. i've driven jay's si with the exedy organic in it and its great.
as of now, the clutch grabs fine, i mean once i let the clutch the whole way out, it has the grip it always had. its just that the "gray area" between engagement/disengagement takes up even more pedal travel, and the feeling while in the gray area is pretty much not there. and once the clutch does grab, its after the pedal is about 75% out, instead of halfway, where it used to be.
i know its really a minor thing in the whole scheme of keeping a car running right, but dammit it pisses me off because i was so used to be able to shift juuuuust right since i knew when and where the clutch take-up was. now its all f'ed up. argh.
