Hang on a sec. Mitsubishi says I have to replace the whole LCA too...and the "late" 944's are supposed to replace their entire LCA...but that doesn't mean they have to either. Maybe you don't have to? Or maybe you can rebuild it yourself?

For hondas, you replace the whole upper arm to get new balljoints - they dont sell them separately.

However, you *can* press/bang them out and press new ones in - not sure if you need to tack weld them in place or not.

Danny rebuilt the balljoints on the 944. Scotty, have you looked at aftermarket shops that sell rebuild kits or the like.

And, even if you can't, at least your LCA assemblies are cheap, 120ish.

yeah i've looked into individual balljoints but considering the time/hassle to make those work, and since the LCA's aren't super pricey i might as well just replace the arms too.

the A4 replacement kit isn't that expensive (i think) and actually replaces all the links in the suspension, upper and lower (there are 5). I just said "LCA" for the sake of conversation.

sorry i jacked your thread like whoa, Rex

It's ok.

I'm gonna go get tags for it today. I need to put the cat in, and I was hoping my 1.3 bar radiator cap would come today, but it didn't, so I guess I'm going to have a spare.

Probably a good idea to keep a stock one around just in case I start blowing hoses and stuff. I've heard that nothing will find coolant system leaks faster than a hi-psi radiator cap.

So when will this thing hit the street? Are you looking at any particular event for the DSM's debut.

It hit the street just a few minutes ago.

Boost peaks at 10 psi....like, right now. Vaccum, then 10psi, the needle moves so fast you can barely see it. I was gonna log the first run and show you guys what it looked like, but my batteries ran dead in my palm.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a Palm lying around they wanna sell me? Must be a *serial* palm, not a USB, and I'd really like color, although the spinach will suffice. The reason I need a new one is that if you touch (like, on the case) squeeze, use, look at crossyed the one I have, the "search" function comes up. Which is annoying.

I also need to work on this shifter. I have the roller skate bushings, I just need to install them,I have 3 quarts of Synchromesh, and I need to get the symborski kit, but I don't want to pay tax *and* shipping from MachV...someone want to pick them up for me before you come back to the 'burg? A beer for your trouble. My trans doesn't grind...but it really doesn't like to go into gear. the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts must be done with firm authority, or they won't be done at all.

Another curiousity is my stock "boost gauge". Anyone who knows anything about DSM's knows that this "boost gauge" is worthless. All it measures is flow from the MAFS. But...mine doesn't work at all. Just sits there. Now on Dave's car, the boost needle just sits there too....he has an aftermarket ECU that uses the stock boost needle for some other arcane purpose, like a knock alert or something. I wonder if I have some aftermarket ECU goodies?

Could be. Maybe not. I'll have to pull the ECU and look. I also need to bleed/adjust my clutch. It engages waay too close to the floor for my liking, and I've heard alot of this and that about the clutch pedal and I really just need to do some hard research on the topic.

The "noise" is back. I think it might be exhaust noise. My downpipe is big, like enormous, and it goes into a teeny-tiny cat-delete pipe and a teenier cat-back. So it may be that the exhaust trying to flow from 3" to 2" might just be really really loud. Plus, nobody thinks it's a big deal but me. So.

Goodies on the horizon: Obviously a full 3" cat-back and high flow cat is in order, as well as probably installing these ball joints and tie rod ends. Then it'll be fuel pump rewire time, and a careful application of more boostfulness. At 10psi the boost is obviously stock, and so we'll see how much power I can squeeze out of this 13G before she cries uncle.

Rex, I can pick up whatever shifter shizzle you need sometime - although not sure when I'm heading to the h-b-g next.

For it being hard to shift, does it have a short shifter on it? That will really make the effort suck. Change the fluid and see how it goes. Its also possible the clutch isnt disengaging fully.

If you're going to VIR you can just meet me with it there. Julie and I were talking about running out that way to go shopping, so maybe I'll just pick it up then. As much as it pains me to pay 35 dollars for glorified washers, people *swear* by it, so I'm gonna do it.

There's no short shifter, but the clutch engages/disengages *very* close to the floor. It wouldn't surprise me if the clutch wasn't fully disengaging. I'm going to adjust the pedal in the next few days and see if that improves.

Good news and bad news.

Good news:
I have an EEPROM ECU. (Although I didn't open it or anything).

Bad news:
Both my clutch pedal height and my clutch adjustment were already at maximum. I'm thinking about one of those extended slave rods, but I think I'm going to talk to DJ at ET first.
