It's interesting you mention that, G. I really think that I have a lower liklihood of initiating an accident on my bike because of that. I find that I just don't pay attention behind the wheel of the car because driving up around here makes me bored more quickly than an episode of 'Friends.' That, and the amount of attention required to simply go is drastically reduced in a car as compared to it's two wheel counterpart.
I can go in heavy, 80mph beltway traffic on the bike all day long, usually a good few mph quicker than most of the cagers without raising a hair on my neck on the bike. Put me in the car, though, and within half an hour I'll probably glance down at the radio and nearly rear end somebody.
To be honest, I'm like a kid out there on the bike, and I consider myself to be a pretty sane individual when it comes to it. I've got friends that have talked about 150mph sweepers - on the street. I'll be damned if my bike ever does anything but go straight at triple digits on the street. If you can't keep your foot out of it behind the wheel, just expect it to multiply exponentially on the bars. By contrast I'm easygoing and pretty slow in a car on the street.... but I see [speed edited out to plead the fifth] at least once a week on the bike... usually without being aware until it's too late.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I knew a dude that we used to say would kill himself on a bike, and he did just that. Riding too hard caught up with him. When I go stuntriding, I can tell whats the accidents are gonna happen, fools riding beyond their abilities or just riding really hard or intense and then pow.
Find some of those scary crash vids, where people get fucked up and show him.

Its not that he doesn't realize the risk, its that he thinks he can handle it. I and all of my friends agree that he cant...but we cant really do much. At first I half jokingly talked about him dying on a bike, but the more I think about it the more and more I think theres a good possibility of it happening.

i started on dirt bikes at age 10... moved to street bikes at age 16. It is subjective, but if you are really young and you dump on a bike on a motorcross course... by the time you are 16 you know how hard the asphalt is and you dont do "as much" stupid shit.

I'd say a good 25% of cyclist out there really shouldnt be riding. There are two reasons, one being skill, two being plain old stupidity and bad judgement. Sadly, I doubt there is much you can do to convince your friend. I have a video at home of some really nasty wrecks and they often show the person afterwords. See'ing someone in pieces always makes me think twice about cracking open the throttle and riding without proper gear.

Motorcycles are fun as shit, and give you a high like no other experience. That being said I think that no matter how mature someone is I think 21 is a good age to start "thinking" about bikes. Remember everyone crashes it is just a matter of the severity of the accident.
