As much as I dont have a big hard-on for this car like the rest of the import ricers do, it will still be very cool to see one in real competion on this side of the globe in an established racing series. It was originally a factory works enduro car so it will be no slouch, and depending on how generous the rules package it may be able to run in the top 10
Now lets just hope that they dont turn into yet another wannabe pro team that runs out of money before they actually run the car.....

It'll be interesting to see if they can develop the car to the level they will need to win. On paper the Skyline could do well but in World Challenge but it will take a sharp driver as well as an excellent develop program to win. I don't know how much professional racing experience Automotiveforums has so I guess we'll see. I'd have to say I don't think they'll be contesting for the championship in the first season unless they have significant backing from NISMO.

Well this will be interesting - there's not even a VTS listed for it on the Speed WC website - I wouldnt be suprised if they are significantly limited for the first year or two - they sure as hell wont be racing with 500hp, I dont think.

Some changes I see they will need to make, are get rid of the fuel cell/dry break setup, toss the ABS, use stock (not reinforced) suspension arms - I dont konw if the cage is legal, but i suspect it will be fine.

You're allowed to relocate the fuel cell for WC.

The VTS's listed are out of date, they don't even have the WRX on there. However, I wouldn't be surprised if these dudes just decided to start building a car without consulting the rules.

Removing the LSD's is excessive I agree. However, at RA Irish Mike's WRX had the highest trap speed at the end of the straight...

what does a race ready skyline weigh in at? because 280 horsepower just isn't gonna cut it in a car that big (i would think). also, with stock horsepower (or thereabouts, since they are so limited in engine mods) will the car still be at a handicap without its LSD's when its on race tires? i would think the tires would give it the traction it needs except on the tightest of courses.

With Irish Mike's its hard to say. These are the same guys that showed up at Sebring with a huge blinging trailer and tent yet was posting lap times 10 seconds slower than the leaders. If that were me I wouldn't bother showing up if during testing I couldn't come close to being competitive. On the other hand maybe what he was doing was trying to show SCCA Pro that his car needed a better VTS if it was going to be competitive.

At RA he probably would've finished around 12th had he not gotten tangled up with another car early on. Either way, with no front or rear LSD its gotta be hard as crap to get a good exit on the corners.

I would expect the motor to be dialed back to under 350 hp, or even less - given that the car is not readily available here for competitors to buy.

Then again, a $15,000 xtrac sequential gearbox in the Mazda 6's isnt exactly "readily availble" to a privateer team building a car either.

No way, at 350 hp it'd be getting lapped by the frontrunners. I figure most of the sharp end of the grid is making 500+ hp with the exception of the Porsches which are probably in the low to mid 400's but running at a lower weight.

Then again if the Skyline ran up front right away I'm sure a bunch of the competitors would start protesting and complaining.

I should have specified that I was talking about the rulepackage for the WRX, not skyline. There is no (published) rulebook for the Skyline yet.
The more I think about this Skyline, the more I doubt it will ever actually see a WC race.
