Turbo / DP Heat Shielding

So I'm in desperate need of reducing some heat soak to the IC under my hood after replacing my stock dp with a 4" bellmouth. Scott and I spoke about it last night, thought I'd see if anyone else has an opinion. These are two I found from speedmonkee:

The standard version, $75



The chimney version, about $150 introductory price.

The standard version seems like it would do a fine job, but the chimney is supposed to vent hot air out of the hood at idle and force cool air downwards from the hood scoop when at speed. I dunno if this would make that huge of a difference, because it would technically be forcing air onto the turbo and downpipe, instead of the IC where it's needed.
I've heard some have concerns with the chimney about water being forced down it onto the turbo and downpipe, which could potentially cause cracking.

Any thoughts ? Anyone know of a similar product of equal/better quality for cheaper ?

Im curious why you are in "desparate need" ?
Did you put a temp probe to measure IC surface temps and another to measure intake charge temps? Do you drag race and see your times come down after sitting in line?
I had a 4" downpipe with no heat shielding, and I know that it was never an issue on a road track

Some heat shielding under there is definately not a bad idea, Im just not sure if its worth $150.
If it were me, I would pick up some sheet aluminum, tin snips, and bend it by hand to attach to the stock brackets down there

I was exaggerating about the desperate need =p And no, I haven't scientifically tested any performance losses after I've been running my car really hard, but i can feel a loss in power when the temperatures under the hood get really hot.

Making my own is a good idea, I dunno if I could do a good job on it though... I'm not much of a craftsman. As far as heat wrap, I've heard that those can lead to cracked exhaust pipes if water gets inside the wrap. I'd rather JetHot it or something like mpg9999 said.

i happen to have gutter flashing and tin snips in my tool box if you need them. artists keep weird assortments of crap in their toolboxes 8)

custom fab your own with tin snips and then heat wrap that so it hides the rough edges

Are you sure the unsheilded DP is the problem?

I've seen evan's big ass DP (downpipe, you wankers) and I didnt think it was much of an issue.
