Bluetooth Stereo options

Does anyone know if they make such a thing as a 'standalone' head unit that can be completely remote controlled from a bluetooth phone? I want to upgrade the stereo in my SS, but I hate the look of those single-din space filling adapters, etc. Nothing will ever look factory in there. I'd like to get a head unit that I can mount somewhere else, that can be controlled from a phone or remote or something to play my bluetooth tunes. I'd prefer to not just buy a unit made for the dash and mount somewhere, but I may have to go that route.

back in my day the guys used to make a custom mount in the glove box for their up to date car stereos. and that was pre remote days!
