so mid last week i had parked the subaru in the lot by home depot/barnes & noble and stuck for sale signs in it.
get a call at 3:57 today from some guy i can hardly understand saying he has my car, i get someone else on the phone that sounds less red and he explains the owners of harrisonburg crossings had called his company to tow my car.
i'm pissed, but keep it cool with him on the phone, he's just doing his job, so i ask where can i go to pick it up and how much is it going to be. he tells me it's $125 for the tow and it's been in storage with them since saturday @ $40/day. he proceeds to tell me that they've tried to contact me several times all week, which is a flat lie since that was the first time his, or any number from harrisonburg has called me this week. i call him out on that fact, and he starts back peddling saying how they didnt' even have to contact me and that he's doing me a favor and all that. i ask where can i meet him to get the car, and he says that they close at 4, (it was 3:57 when they called) and i could meet him tomorrow, and of course that would be an extra $40 since it's there overnight again.
somewhere during this conversation i found a new level of rage in me. still able to fight off the urge to blow up at the guy, since cursing someone never seems to work out too well.
so i know they are totally scamming me on this since my number was plastered all over the vehicle, but wondering if i've got any hope at reason winning out in this situation, or if i'm going to end up taking it up the rear.
the place is express towing and recovery 861 Chicago Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22802 Phone: (540) 908-9849
and the guy is Ricky N Moats 9918 Browns Gap Rd, Grottoes, VA 24441 540-249-8282
i've kind of given up on trying to understand why they wouldn't have just called the number all over the car and say, hey, you can't park here, move or we'll tow; but if anyone has some advice, or knows of some legal notification stuff that should have been done, i'd appreciate it.
