Nothing to do with cars....DIY iPhone Repair - davej - 04-19-2012 So my wife got an iphone about a month ago and the boy got his hands on it and chucked it down the driveway the other week. Cracked the screen pretty good, but still functioned. Of course I was too cheap to buy the insurance plan from Verizon, so it was time for a little DIY. Turns out I made out pretty good. Verizon charges $10/month for insurance and theres a $169 deductible for things like this. Parts/Tools cost me $75 and took about 40 minutes to do. (but I was checking everything out so not real quick) So if anyone ends up in a similar situation, let me know, might be able to help. Like any good project, make sure there is a full supply of beer readily available. ![]() Back Cover Removed Damn Tiny Screws  ![]() Battery and Camera Out ![]() Board and Speakers Out ![]() LCD and Broken Glass Out ![]() Back Together With New LCD and Glass...and working?! :evileye: ![]() *Disclaimer* I know I blame a lot of mishaps on small kids, but just wait.youll see. And I may harass you to borrow those tools Both my front and rear glass is cracked.

Step by step video makes it pretty easy to follow along also. but yeah, if you're around harrisonburg stop and grab the tools and mat, then just get the glass by itself. Re: Nothing to do with cars....DIY iPhone Repair - SlimKlim - 04-19-2012 Nice DIY, my front screen has one scratch you can get your fingernail in, and a ton of fine ones. (unscratchable screen my ass :twisted ![]() I dont have the insurance either so its nice to know any potential major fuck ups, (lets be honest, the chances of me leaving my phone somewhere in a car with moving parts are pretty high) won't be too awful to fix. My Epic Touch 4G is literally turning off and on again over and over again as I type this. I have dropped it hard probably 6 or 7 times and physically its fine. The back of my old Blackberry has been broken for years but that thing hasn't had a glitch. Re: Nothing to do with cars....DIY iPhone Repair - V1GiLaNtE - 04-22-2012 This awesome! My GF just shattered her screen and has the warranty but wanted to see if this was a more viable option.. Might have to do this for her! Thanks for the write up! |
