SUBARU BRZ- Premier Shine - premiershine9 - 04-16-2012

Hey MM!!!!

As many of you know/ seen, we had the fortunate opportunity of having our good friend Scott Powell from B. Wade Subaru hook us up with a BRZ model at the show this past weekend!
Mid way through the week I had contacted him and asked to be able to contact the representative about being able (Premier Shine) to become the first detailer in the U.S. to prep/ work on this car! I received a call back two days later from the rep and Scott telling me the go to work my magic on it in a short window of a little over two hours!

What I did-
Basic decon wash
Full Clay
Paint Sealant application
Basic Interior- vac, trim and degrease all plastics, wipe down suede.

The car was at the Richmond auto show, then made its appearance at the NY auto show last week at the Javitz center. After this the car was put into storage and driven down on a covered trailer to Richmond where the rep then picked it up and left shortly before 5 a.m. the day of the show. I then received the car that morning at around 7:45 a.m.

Products:
- CG citrus wash and clear/ Dawn wash
- Megs WB- 15:1
- Megs APC
- CG JetSeal 109
- 303 aerospace protectant
- Adams VRT
- Sonax Glass cleaner

Tools:
- Flex DA
- Uber spoke brush
- Various Swissvax brushes
- Wool mitts
- Pinnacle bug and tar block

After the car was pulled from the wash bay- driven over across the lot :wink: to the bay area in front of the dealership to begin claying

The car was clayed with a fine grade clay- not much was picked up- apologies for no pics

The motor was spotless and a quick wipedown with some 303 made it perfect

Gorgeous work as usual Dan.

My Dad and I had a great time chatting with the Subaru rep. We were both pleasantly surprised by the car in person, the interior seems to be a great quality for the price point of the car, and you gotta love economy car mileage with a sports car formula. I got to sit in it for about 10 seconds and the seats feel awesome and the transmission reminds me of S2000 awesomeness.

I think my parents are in the market for a new car to replace Mom's 5spd TC. I think they might end up going for one of these or waiting for the new Golf TDI that's supposed to come out this fall.

Looks stunning. It's pretty amazing how a car goes from "oh, that looks good" to "wow, that looks amazing" even on a brand new car.

X2- I was really surprised by the interior quality and design, after sitting in it and working on it and even driving it thru 2nd on the lot......the price tag just makes you want to jump on it and friggin buy one immediately. These are going to sell SO well

This x100. It really is at the top of my "reasonably attainable" want list. The interior for $25k was really nice. No cheesey plastic pieces or anything. And the "fighter plane" switch panel was awesome looking.

The one thing that gets me, and I've noticed it on a LOT of new cars, but what the crap is up with the stock tires being stretched over the stock wheels? Joey says...

awesome work....that last shot makes the paint look liquid. i like that color a lot more now that i did when the car came out. still really want one some day.

you're a pretty tall guy, good to see there's some greenhouse space in there. it looks like a smaller car than it probably is.

They might just be a li'l stretched to firm up the sidewalls a bit and make things a bit more crisp. They are Prius tires after all :lol: Badass car, looks awesome for the money, and nice work/congrats as always Dan, superb job!

Actually, the sti is really bad for this too. I am always noticing these marks in the plastic, but they go away if you wipe them off.

One thing that really surprised me on this car was that it doesn't have Brembos....

STI brembos will bolt-on, though.

WRX's don't come with brembos, why would this?

Because it's competition (Gen Coupe) does? To be fair that's a higher model of the Gen Coupe so maybe they will offer it later.

Yeah, I'm sure the STI version (if it ever comes) will have brembos. As you said the genesis coupe base model doesn't have fancy breaks either The whole point of the brz was to keep cost down. The car still has an old fashion hood prop instead of dampers. I pointed this out to the rep and his response was about keeping cost to a minimum yadda yadda yadda.

Personally I wouldn't consider the two cars direct competition. It's like comparing a Mustang to a Miata. :dunno:

I read a while ago that the STI version of this isn't even going to be turbocharged. I'm curious as to what they decide to bolt on for the "performance version" if they are keeping it N/A.

Does this thing not just scream "TURBO ME" though?
