As the title says. It's never been opened. I bought it to give as a christmas gift, best buy wouldnt take it back (pricks).

The menu and screensaver has ads and it's $40 cheaper.
FWIW, I think the ads are pretty unobtrusive.

I returned an opened laptop a couple weeks ago that i bought early december.
returns window was extended through jan 24 even if you bought it in november

I dont know - I bought it dec 23rd, and the bitch showed me some thing on the screen that said "No returns, no manual override"
I didnt feel like fighting her on it right there, but it's the nail in the coffin for me buying anything from best buy anymore...I had already pretty much switched to amazon, anyway.

So according to this <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.squidoo.com/what-is-kindle-special-offers">http://www.squidoo.com/what-is-kindle-special-offers</a><!-- m --> the ads you speak of dont show up when you're doing anything on the kindle, just when you're NOT doing something. Apparently its pretty easy to remove them altogether.
