Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - CaptainHenreh - 10-22-2011 fuckin' sweet. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Kaan - 10-22-2011 we missed you guys... there was enough time to do 3-4 runs if you just kept jumping in line. no armor needed today but a lift and lockers would have made life a little easier
Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 10-23-2011 I had a bitchin' time.. SOOOO much fun. It was great to get some hands on experience and education from spotters on traversing the course. I was impressed with what the heep could do especially with the new tires.. Very happy with the purchase. Definitely learned a lot a look forward to using some of the skills learned out on the trails.Personally I think people were kinda impressed at the heeps ability to flex it out. Puts things into perspective about not needing Gigantor Jeep to maneuver on trails. Decent tires, smooth skinny pedal application, and left foot braking you can generally drive up, around, or over something that's bigger than what you think you and the jeep can handle.. And of course a really good spotter never hurt no one. Car crush was pretty epic to watch. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - ScottyB - 10-23-2011 i don't think you could stuff more tire into that XJ if you tried  something about a not-skyjacked, hardtop, reasonably-tire'd wrangler that looks so right and awesome. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Kaan - 10-23-2011 It's stock other than wheels, 31s (that came on the rubicon model stock), skid plates, and CB set up. I think she is going to lift it 2-3 inches so she can clear more stuff "safely" Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Cody - 10-23-2011 Looks like a fun time. It's cool to see 4x4 experience building in the club. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Kaan - 10-24-2011 I wll have to say that for the rigs that were out there... they were the best of the newbs and only "bested" by more skilled and experience trail guys in far from stock rigs. 31s and semi stock... MM was wreck'n it. the 4 door stock JK did not try to get on the cars... not enough clearance! Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - BLINGMW - 10-24-2011 cool, I didn't know there was 4x4 "practice" :dunno:  Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Kaan - 10-24-2011 BLINGMW Wrote:cool, I didn't know there was 4x4 "practice" :dunno:  they do off camber work and a lot of step ups and downs... heel/toe and stuff comes into play apparently. People still broke things (shocks and transmissions) ... but it was less "damage" and more mechanical fatigue. at least you werent 10 miles (and 4 hours) from the road if you broke. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Jeff - 10-25-2011 Where was this one, Manassas CDJR? I have not been on NOVA in awhile. I would like to get out to one of these. The only problem is they usually seem to be at a dealership and I feel bad showing up in my Jeep with Woodstock Garage all over the sides. EDIT- Anyone want to do a run of Peter's Mill sometime soon? Go in at Woodstock tower and come out over at Tasker's Gap? Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Kaan - 10-25-2011 yeah this one was at Manassas Jeep 5 start whatever the dealers kid (mini you) didnt have a jeep he was allowed to use (he might not even have a license)... so he jumped in Stoney's LJ. they were pretty laid back over all. they just didnt want mud tracked through the front of the lot lol. we were spraying it everywhere when we left so i get it. Woodstock Garage needs to put on a spring "warm up" skills day You need to jump on nova... there is a peters mill run this sunday i think... at least someone is looking to go. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Jeff - 10-25-2011 I will be out of town this sunday but next woud be wide open. I will post something up. I need to get a little mud on the tires. I would love to do a skills day here but I don't have any grass! It is all paved or tar/chip. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 10-25-2011 ^ 100% interested in a Peter's Mill Run Jeff...Maybe something before Thanksgiving Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 10-28-2011 I think might have told some of you I did a little trail riding two weekends ago.. Really easy fun little trails around the lake up 33W.. Here was one of my favorite water crossings.. First part is a little deep but hey it's a jeep right? http://youtu.be/7g84t2ea92E http://youtu.be/7E9aWRTWY1A Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - ScottyB - 10-28-2011 V1GiLaNtE Wrote:http://youtu.be/7g84t2ea92E man, i'd love to fish that... oh yeah, nice work with the jeep too  Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - .paul - 10-28-2011 how often do they do these? I am not part of any of these forums, but would love to take the treg through it. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 10-29-2011 Went out again to the same trail today.. Went all the way to the end. Definitely fun to use some skills learned at skillz day to flex and stuff the ol' heap! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A wild Jeep appears on the ridge! ![]() ![]() Driving up some rocks.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Stuffage: ![]() Wheelin' with a friendly Tahoe.. Didn't pretty well for stock. These trails aren't difficult ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group Shot ![]() Flexin again.. I wanted to drive all the way over this and pop the back wheel up on it but alas my unibody was going to hit and scrape hard if I kept going.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stuffage 2.0 ![]() Wheelin in the snow!? Oh FO SHO!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr2cbB_OXNQ A lot of fun today. Unfortunately all of the Streams that were raging last time were all dried up.. But it was fun maneuvering through them like rock gardens.. Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Ryan T - 11-01-2011 Not sure if there is a more appropriate thread, but give me your thoughts on tow strap vs. tow chain? I've got a 15' chain rated at 18,000lbs. that I keep in my truck, but it def. lacks the advantage of being able to "yank" like a tow strap does. I have my chain threaded with thick rope and keep a blanket in the truck that I could probably throw over it if I was pulling a heavy load to prevent damage. What do you guys prefer? Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Jeff - 11-01-2011 Most folks won't wheel with you if you are using a chain. They are not allowed on nova runs. Just get a 20k snatch strap. Make sure it is a recovery strap and not a "cargo" strap. |
