Off road adventure anyone? - premiershine9 - 10-05-2011

To all of us who have 4wd and like it low and slow-
Anyone want to chime in and get a group together to head out to springs or somewhere else <1 hour away say around November to do a little wheeling?
I have to correct a few things- sway bar disco's, new meats, fluids, power steering pump etc. before I'm gonna go out and thrash the heep again and if we get something together now we'll have enough time to plan ahead.

Cody and all- I will mention it tonight at the meeting and maybe we can work something out.
That is all.

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Kaan - 10-05-2011

must talk to the jeep owner and see if she will drive me into the woods.

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - ispoonwithmugen - 10-05-2011

i want to try and take the subbie out, i dont know how serious you plan on going haha

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Sully - 10-05-2011

Kaan, I think its the return trip back from the woods you should make sure of

Might bring the truck back up here at some point and wouldn't mind hitting some mild open trails...unless of course you want lots of buffing work dan and then we can hit some tighter trails

haha very true- I know a couple places that are VERY stocker friendly

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Kaan - 10-05-2011

she ran blues at rausch creek in a "stock TJ"... 31s + skids.

if you go stocker friendly, we might get Rex out there... maybe Cabell.

we might need you to do some work on the TJ anyway Wink

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Jewels - 10-05-2011

We're interested, but for the time being it needs to be stocker friendly. We haven't had the time to put the lift and skids on the jeep yet.

engine skid and go...

I can help spot people... tackling big obsticles in stockers will require a more skilled spotter (working on it) but keeping diffs off rocks and helping with a line for stockers i am good at Smile

Gotta make sure the jeep owner brings you back form the woods

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Cody - 10-05-2011

Yeah I definitely want to have a camping trip in the vicinity of a place to 4x4 for those interested. I know we've talked about it a couple times and have had decent interest. We can make some solid plans over this weekend (I'll have plenty of free time at the track). I'm a huge fan of crab tree falls so if anyone knows about trails near it off the top of their head that's cool otherwise I'll look more in depth over the weekend. November is a good time to do this.

Sounds good- And yes I'm always down for some stocker-friendly trails- broke a good $450 worth of parts in one trip this summer after pushing it pretty hard.....not about to do that again for a little while at least

Yes

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Kaan - 10-05-2011

She is not a pedal bike girl...

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - JPolen01 - 10-05-2011

I would be in to come hang out and hitch a ride as I do not have a trail rated vehicle

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Kaan - 10-06-2011

As ling as there is a seat belt I don't see why not. Some rigs at RC were carrying entire families

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Jewels - 10-06-2011

You're welcome to ride with us, if you don't mind sharing a seat with the pup. And he does have a seatbelt harness, he hates it, but I'm pretty sure for trail riding he'll love it.

I'm in if someone will have me as a passenger....Dan? haha

Re: Off road adventure anyone? - Cody - 10-09-2011

Looks like the trail near crab tree falls is very basic (actually a fire road that's legal to drive on) it's called Shoe Creek. http://www.va4wda.org/shoe-creek-map.htm Google it some and let me know what you think about it. Would November 5th work for people? I know it's a NASA weekend at Summit so if that's a conflict for people we can figure something else out.
