Oh wait... Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - kcook - 09-28-2011 Get rid of the bov, your car will run 100x better. Also I hope you're running some sort of engine management with those mods... Btw I was the guy in the white sti you asked why I went with a wrx wing. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ScottyB - 09-28-2011 lookin good, can't believe how low those miles are! i love those wheels btw...haven't seen OZ's on a scoob in quite a while. hard to beat rally blue too. very nice. i was actually about to say the same thing Kyle did....get rid of that BOV and go back to recirc, and with intake/exhaust i'd seriously consider a tune. good news is that otherwise you've got some fine parts on there to enjoy it. go autocross that thing pronto! Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - V1GiLaNtE - 09-28-2011 Mmm... I ride by this scooby everyday at the baseball lot on my way to class.. It's hard not to stare.. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - Ken - 09-28-2011 Yeah I was going to say about the BOV, from what i gather they are no bueno for our cars... Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ispoonwithmugen - 09-28-2011 wow i didnt know that, for some reason i thought they were benificial.. it has been running without a tune for a wihle now and my username is what i've always used haha. Thanks for the compliments guys! I actually took it to the college invitational.. first ever autox went from my first time of 81 to a 72 my last run. I loved every second of it haha, can't wait for the next one! A BOV is beneficial if it is used properly, just like a run is good for your health unless you get run over by a bus. Aftermarket BOVs get their benefits from sealing at higher pressures, and many times "reaction" times of the valve. Big plus for both of those. However, it must be used in its intended use. That is, the airflow coming from the BOV is already calculated into your ECU's airflow tables. Therefore if you "vent" that air instead of recirculating back into the intake past the MAF, you have just deprived your motor of air that it "thought" it was going to get. Causing a rich condition. Thats why a lot of cars "stumble" or even die between shifts. You can use the HKS Bov, just make sure you have the adapter that recirculates the air back into the intake post-maf. What this does is explain also why cars that originally vented, and cars that are originally N/A (naturally aspirated, no turbo) do not have problems "venting" their bovs. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ispoonwithmugen - 09-28-2011 So where is this adapter? Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-28-2011 Boom. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=hks+ssqv+recirculation+fitting&gs_upl=551l6208l0l8840l15l14l0l2l2l2l555l4800l0.1.1.4.3.3l14l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1680&bih=941&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=8833860943318037363&sa=X&ei=V2iDTs_bI4rZ0QGAmrWWAQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDsQ8wIwAg Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ispoonwithmugen - 09-28-2011 awesome man, as soon as i get some cash this will be the next part that goes on Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - WRXtranceformed - 09-29-2011 Yeah I had a turbo Xs rfl Bov on my first WRX and that thing sounded awesome but the car ran like garbage. The stock recirc valve actually sounded pretty loud itself once you start upping the boost. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ispoonwithmugen - 09-29-2011 really? I just always thought that bov's were good for your car for some reason.. i don't know where i picked up that misconception, what else should i get for a good autox car? Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - CaptainHenreh - 09-29-2011 ispoonwithmugen Wrote:really? I just always thought that bov's were good for your car for some reason.. i don't know where i picked up that misconception, what else should i get for a good autox car? Recirculation valves are vital to a turbocharged car. But, if your air flow meter is not blow-through (and it's not in your subaru) or you don't have a MAP sensor only, then venting to atmosphere will prevent already metered air from entering your engine. The fuel, however, to accommodate for that metered air, is going in whether you like it or not. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ScottyB - 09-29-2011 ispoonwithmugen Wrote:what else should i get for a good autox car? suspension wise? camber plates, aggressive alignment, and good tires. hell you really only need tires if that. then autocross it ALOT and build your skills. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - JustinG - 09-29-2011 agreed, get some sticky tires on a second set of wheels, and drive the piss out of it. Then once you have the hang of it, start making suspension tweaks, custom rate springs, adjustable shocks, etc etc. Re: Garrett's 02 scoob - ispoonwithmugen - 09-29-2011 ScottyB Wrote:well this is my daily but i have a set of track tires that the previous own had and he said they gripped phenomonlyispoonwithmugen Wrote:what else should i get for a good autox car?
