Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - premiershine9 - 07-24-2011

One other good thing about coming home to the armpit of NJ besides detailing.....living 15 minutes away from BMW HQ of North America. I grew up watching spy cars from BMW ripping it up and down the turnpike and public roads.
Before getting kicked out I was able to take some pics real quick, they saved one old barn from when they took over the old farm some years ago to build their huge corporate center(s) and they usually stash their development cars in the barn....it happened to be closed when I went Sad

M1.....Yummeh

The back end of the new mini coupe looks weird(maybe its just that angle?)

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - Ryan T - 07-24-2011

Maybe it's just me, but I think that M1 is fugly. I love most BMW styling and haven't seen an M I didn't like in several years, but that car just doesn't do it for me. I like the rolled fenders and all but the top/glass just looks too tall and mushed together.

*backhand* It is not an M1!!!

But yeah I can see how it would look awkward to some.

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - caa337 - 07-24-2011

1M then?

Yea its awkward looking, There's another one right next to 1M and in the one pic you can get a better look than the orange one shows.

You're not alone. Its probably the ugliest car on sale today :vomit:

Cool pics - I like the classic Minis

Whatchu smoking, Willis?

I love the 1M... in that orange, especially. I think the "overdone" styling is WAY better than the 'stock' 1's.

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - JustinG - 07-25-2011

yea i dunno, the 1M doesnt make it move that much for me either. I dunno.......Im not gonna say its the ugliest car on sale today, but meh.....

I'm with you Jake, I love it

Thats really cool you got those pics, thanks for sharing

I'm not sure what you guys are complaining about on the 1M :dunno:

How about that Mini Coupe though? THAT looks silly.

Thanks! Gonna take another trip soon and get a snap of the new M6 I saw!
And yes they also had one there with a Carbon Fiber roof, if your claustrophobic at all this car is gonna freak you out, the rear is chopped so low I couldn't imagine how anyone over 5 foot 9 could fit.

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - Steve85 - 07-25-2011

And I like the little 1er in M trim

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - WRXtranceformed - 07-25-2011

New Mercedes styling is just so much better than BMW lately, I'm sorry.

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - Goodspeed - 07-25-2011

Guys, seriously. I mean c'mon. Really? They look like dogshit. Not one thing is proportional to any other thing on the car. The one Steve posted looks like a clowncar on acid.

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - BLINGMW - 07-25-2011

I guess I was just saying it doesn't look any worse than the regular 1 series which I thought we all got our hate out on 5 years ago
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1852

which, yeah, photographs TERRIBLY.... but is *acceptable* IRL.

Here's a pic of a brand new E350 I performed a full basic with a paint sealant application on this past week, I'll agree with you the styling is great. However from my experience working on them, if you take a BMW and a Merc and put them side by side, same age, same miles......the BMW has aged much better in terms of durability.

Here's a pic or two:

Re: Recent trip to BMW HQ- photos - WRXtranceformed - 07-25-2011

German cars and durability in general don't really go together in the same sentence Tongue

That white E-class is hot btw...i'd lease one, never buy !

I'll raise you one E34 535i/5. Runs like a top with 191k on it and I've only fixed "wear item" type of things that go with age.

The new E-Classes are pretty hot, I'd rock an E63 AMG Big Grin Not the biggest fan of those little square-ish lights closest to the grille though.
