What do you guys wanna see?? - premiershine9 - 06-25-2011 I have a couple ideas on "how-to" topics to cover, listed below are a couple ideas I quick came up with. WHAT DO YOU all want to see me cover with a write-up/ product review?? I will do product comparisons too! Business is starting to pick up soon so I'll be able to show a lot! - Headlight lens correction - wetsanding - polishing 101 - proper wash method - wheel care - engine cleaning 101 Help me out! Give me some ideas guys!! Cheers, Re: What do you guys wanna see?? - Goodspeed - 06-25-2011 I'd like to see: - Proper leather care - Cleaning/dressing interior plastics/vinyl - Proper wash method I'd also really like to understand what pads/polishes/waxes you use and why. I have a Griot's kit that I got as a gift, that comes with Polish "1, 2, 3", best of show wax, etc.. I'm very happy with the results but I don't know much about other products on the market. Re: What do you guys wanna see?? - .RJ - 06-25-2011 Engine detailing please. I've always been able to do an "ok" job but nothing really great. I have a Lexus RX350 tomorrow with a very light tan leather.....should be able to use for a good leather how to. Keep them coming! Similar to Megs 105/205 polish combo. I will spend some time to write a full write-up explaining polishing/ pads and what it all means....paint correction will probably be a good 2500 word write-up. I will also try and get my hands on a Adams detail kit and do a review of that! Its a great starter kit and my supplier carries a ton of them. I also went to a seminar a month ago and met Mr. Adam himself of Adams polishes.....interesting line-up of user friendly products for the novice. It gets washed when it rains Dried by driving down the highway And a coat of natural organic mud sealant at least once every 6 months And the most time we spend around it is on a creeper with a 6 pack of brew next to us

Is there a wax or other coating I can buy that would last for like, 2-5 years, that I can just brush on and then FORGET about the paint without doing any damage? I want some sort of Teflon-impregnated coating that I can just put on when I buy a car, even if it makes it look dull, and rinse off the sun-baked bird shit and bugs with a hose now and then, and sell it years later with no additional signs of neglect, rust, rock chips, or scratches. Simoniz has a contract with Dupont that utilizes their Teflon coating. I am aware of the coating, never have used it before but did a quick ten minute research and here's what I dug up: http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/detailing-product-discussion-reviews/4363-simoniz-system-5-paint-sealant-interior-protection.html I trust the autopia forum because not only do they sell quality detail supplies but also have a large number of other professional detailers who are members as well. IMHO- I wouldn't trust the teflon coating....its going to cost you big bucks and in my opinion would not be worth it. It also will not protect against rock chips! I would purchase a quality paint sealant ( 3-6 months protection ) and start from there. I personally use Menzerna power lock and blackfire wet diamond paint sealant. Both are phenomenal and I have personally seen one of my clients Range Rovers 4 months after two applications and it still beads beautifully. If you are willing to throw down some serious cash, and were talking at least more than 1K..... have a professional install a clear film such as 3M's clear bra. It will provide excellent protection from rock chips, acid rain. mineral deposits and bird bombs without harming the paint. Have a detailer polish the paint before application......apply the film.....remove the film after lets say 2 years, and your back to a freshly polished finish. 3M also applies a layer of clear to the film making it around 8 microns thick....which means detailers or yourself can polish it! All in all, Invest in a $30-$50 bottle of sealant and a clay bar. Regularly wash the car at least twice a month properly, clay every 5000 miles, and apply a layer of sealant at least once a month directly after a general wash. Hope this helps! Re: What do you guys wanna see?? - BLINGMW - 06-27-2011 premiershine9 Wrote:Regularly wash the car at least twice a month properly, clay every 5000 miles, and apply a layer of sealant at least once a month directly after a general wash.:| premiershine9 Wrote:Hope this helps! :thumbup:nope! (but really, thanks for thinking about it and looking it up) Re: What do you guys wanna see?? - premiershine9 - 06-29-2011 Coming up by the end of this weekend, On a Audi Q7: - proper method for cleaning a motor/ dressing one - trim and proper weather stripping care Re: What do you guys wanna see?? - Jeff - 07-03-2011 Have you ever been over to E&M Auto Supply there in Harrisonburg?
