Race Seats Discussion - JustinG - 03-23-2011 So I was looking on here and being as a lot of us either have or have had race seats I noticed there were no reviews. So I am in the market and I figured people could post up their thoughts on the seats they have owned or own etc, Pros, Cons, what you used them for. Have a centralized place for people to come check out what they may fit in get a good use out of. I guess we can follow a format kinda like this. Brand: Model: Avg Price: Fixed/Reclinable FIA: Yes/No Mounts: Bottom/Side Your size: Height/Weight/Waist size Type of Car: Used for: AutoX/Track/DD Pros: Comfy, 5th point slot, etc Cons: Fading fabric, wears poorly, etc Re: Race Seats Discussion - kcook - 03-23-2011 Brand : Sparco Model : Old Evo Model Avg Price : $500ish used?? Fixed/Reclinable : Fixed FIA : n/a Mounts : Side Your size : 6'2, 190, 34 Type of Car : teh ol' wrx Used for : AutoX/Track/DD : ALL Pros : I was very comfortable, but I wouldnt mind having an evo 2 which is a tad wider. I could go hours without my back hurting on a long road trip (vir, beach, etc) vs being in a stock wrx/sti seat after 45 mins my back would hurt. The seat was night and day and I will put another bucket in my STi. Came with a 5th pt slot, but I used it for 6 ![]() Cons: : Just a pita to get in and out of the car on a daily basis other than that the seats looked new after 3 years of use.
Re: Race Seats Discussion - BLINGMW - 03-23-2011 sounds fun Brand: Corbeau Model: Forza Avg Price: $225 Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: don't think so Mounts: Bottom Your size: 6'2" 190 35" Type of Car: BMW E30 Used for: AutoX/Track/DD Pros: cheap, comfortable enough for daily use and accommodated drivers wider than myself. Certainly much better for track use than any stock seat. I used them with stock belts (no cage) and that worked well. Sliding brackets fit well and worked ok. Cons: This was ~6 years ago, I don't know if they've gotten better, but I bought them new and in a year they were fading (to a nice red/pink color) and the fabric was so thin I was just waiting for it to tear. And I was pretty careful about not sliding my ass across the bolsters when getting in/out. I think they might have made it two years before I sold. :dunno: Unlike a good brand name, they have little resale value after a year. Re: Race Seats Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 03-24-2011 Brand: La-Z-Boy Model: Pinnacle All Leather Avg Price: $699.00 Fixed/Reclinable: Back and Footrest reclinable separately. FIA: No Mounts: Bottom Your size: NASCAR Type of Car: NASCAR Used for: Watchin NASCAR Pros: Leather is easy to clean up spilled queso. Full body chaise. Smooth reclining operation Cons: No cupholder/remote holder. No massaging capability. Leather gets sticky on hot days. Re: Race Seats Discussion - PDenbigh - 03-24-2011 Brand: Sparco Model: Circuit Avg Price: $700-$1200? Got mine for around $500 on a forum Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: Yes Mounts: Side only, I think. Haven't looked under it in a long time. Your size: 5'10", 140, 30" waist Type of Car: Merkur XR4Ti track car Used for: Track Pros: Very comfortable (if you're skinny), really holds you in place, great protection, not very heavy, Halo protection, no visibility impacts from halo, padding in the right spots Cons: Entry price, worth the money for a track/race car though
Re: Race Seats Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-24-2011 Brand: Sparco Model: Sprint Avg Price: 250-450 Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: no Mounts: Bottom Your size: 6'2 178 32 Type of Car: Eclipse GSX Used for: AutoX/Track/DD Pros: 5-point accessible, cheap Cons: You have to "upgrade" to their nicer cloth and it lasted nicely, tube-frame was awful on your head, isnt as comfortable as more expensive seats which are worth it Brand: Momo Model: Supercups Avg Price: 400-750 Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: Yes Mounts: Side Your size: 6'2 178 32 Type of Car: Eclipse GSX Used for: AutoX/Track/DD Pros: 5-point accessible, GORGEOUS stitching, supports like a pro2000 Cons: Tight!!! Was really tight in the shoulders, which is why I ended up getting rid of them. They were sooo pretty haha. Brand: Sparco Model: Pro2000 Avg Price: 500-750 Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: Yes Mounts: Side Your size: 6'2 178 32 Type of Car: E36 M3 Used for: AutoX/Track Pros: Extremely comfy, long-lasting fabric, fairly cheap entry, removeable and moveable bottom cushions and lumbar support Cons: Getting in and out of them are kind of a pain, my big con is no halo And what im getting in a week... Brand: Sparco Model: Circuit Plus Avg Price: 750-1100 Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: Yes Mounts: Side Your size: 6'2 178 32 Type of Car: E36 M3 Used for: AutoX/Track Pros: Comfy like a pro2000, HALO protection, same cloth as pro2000s Cons: Getting in and out of them are a bitch, not really a daily seat. Re: Race Seats Discussion - Maengelito - 03-24-2011 Brand: Sparco Model: Pro2000 Avg Price: $400ish Fixed/Reclinable: Fixed FIA: Yes Mounts: fiberglass - bottom or side/ CF - side Your size: 6'1" 170 32" Type of Car: Integra, NB Miata, S2000 Used for: DD/Track Pros: Pretty comfy for relatively skinny guys, did road trips to Road Atlanta (~9 hrs) and Barber (~12 hrs) without many problems. Cons: Probably not the greatest seat for fatties. I highly suggest you sit in as many seats as you can at the track and write down the ones you like as well as the ones you don't like. Height, weight and waist measurements don't always mean you have the same size torso or shoulders as someone else. |
