Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - Ryan T - 01-17-2011 Well since project Jeep came to an end I picked up a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 4.3L V6. It's a pretty base truck, but it's 4x4, has 105k miles and I bought it for the exact same price I sold my Jeep for. Samantha didn't like driving the Jeep and we both wanted a pickup truck for the convenience of having a bed. The only thing I've done so far is wash it, put a drop hitch and ball into the tow package and superglue a crack in the bed right next to the tailgate. My plans are to get rid of the crappy tiny tires and put on some 31s or 32s, go to the dealership and check to see if any of the service bulletins have been done and see what service was done to it when it was traded in to the dealership at 103k miles. If they didn't do the full service, I'm going to flush and replace the fluids in both diffs, transmission, transfer case, oil and coolant. Will probably also do plugs and wires and such. The only problem it has is a little bit of a hard shift form 1 to 2 at low load/low rpm when it's cold. I'm hoping changing the fluid fixes this. It also has a problem the Jeep used to have; when you come to a stop it feels like the rear end has a release or something. LIke the truck stops, then the rest of it catches up and it clunks just a little. Lots of people say it's due to the slip yoke but we'll see. You guys have any idea what it could be? ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Project Stepside: 1999 Silverado - CaptainHenreh - 01-17-2011 Looks good. Nothing wrong with the 3/4SBC... Re: Project Stepside: 1999 Silverado - Mike - 01-17-2011 Needs more flowmaster. Re: Project Stepside: 1999 Silverado - Jeff - 02-01-2011 Does it smell like hot love and prison food inside? Re: Project Stepside: 1999 Silverado - Ryan T - 02-01-2011 It didn't when I got it but it sure does now
Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - Ryan T - 04-13-2011 So this Chevy is up for sale now. Since we bought the house I have decided to downsize to just one vehicle. I picked it up today. It's a 2002 Silverado extended cab 4x4, 5.3L V8, 1 owner, every single option except leather. It's got 93k miles on it. Picked it up for a good price and it left me with a few grand over from the Vette plus whatever I can sell my 99 for. Only thing I'm looking to do at the moment is remove the gaudy chrome accents.
Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - ScottyB - 04-14-2011 tan auto vette for a tan pickup....fair trade? j/k Ryan, looks good just get that chrome off the windows Esse. Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - Goodspeed - 04-14-2011 Man, you're just on a beige kick, aren't you  Edit: Oh snap double 8:18 AM beige whammy! Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - Jeff - 04-14-2011 Never ending faggotry going strait back to the sale of the Jeep. So much fail.... j/k...needs moar Ram though. Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - Jake - 04-14-2011 Better than a beige Camry. New one looks good, more "grown up" than the cute lil' V6 you had at first. You need this as a bumper sticker:
Re: Project Chevy: 2002 Silverado - WRXtranceformed - 04-14-2011 No more Vette?
