Tool Request - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-27-2010

Was wondering if somebody within MM has a 12.5mm drill bit and m14x1.5 tap? Both, one or the other, something? Tongue

I don't have those things, but these guys did my diff when my bolt broke, and put a new differential bushing in too. They're awesome. They open sometime around 7am, so you can drop it off on your way to work.

I was told when the differential bolt breaks, it's usually due to excessive movement in the subframe or three differential bushings unless you make insane horsepower. Judging by the way your subframe bushings looked on Sunday, it might not be a bad time to get those bad boys out. When my bolt broke, I did the front diff bolt bushing, and the four sub frame bushings at the same time. Just sayin'.

Yeah, just trying to get it together for November 6th/7th. As with the front suspension, ill be going through the rear suspension this winter. But since I do a ridiculous amount of autocrosss launches id like to at least go up in grade and bolt size. Might as well do it overkill while im in there. The bolt costs me $2.81, same as the replacement stock piece, and all I havew to do is drill and tap for the new one. Would take all of 45 minutes if I had the right tools. If I cant get the tools, maybe ill bring my diff to them and tell them to drill and tap, and then everything else myself. Ive just become weary of anyone touching anything on my car without me doing it nowadays.

How good of a tap does it need to be? IOW, what's it going in to? Steel or Aluminum? How thick?

going into cost iron. You think you have something? I can bring down the diff this weekend with me and we can knock it out while working on your car.

I think I do. I'll get back to you today.
