1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 09-25-2010 So since people wanted a project thread I figured I would put one up. I'm gonna take some pics tomorrow and post em on here. Heres a crappy cell phone pic after I picked it up. ![]() I'll be updating with more pics and eventually what I do to it when I get the time and money. It's awesome so far. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - Jake - 09-26-2010 Looks good and clean! Looking forward to the more detailed post when ya wake up. Good to hear you like it so far  Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 09-26-2010 Okay so the front lip is messed up from what you can see and the top of the back bumper could use some paint(clear coat is a little messed up.) im gonna try to get another lip soon and my dad said he would get someone he knows to paint the lip and back bumper. I'm gonna pressure wash the engine and engine bay with my dad sometime unless he does it before I get a chance to go back down there. My mom loves driving the car and so does my dad so they will probably be driving it around some. My mom was like "ohh i could get in so much trouble with this thing," lmao. I'll update this as stuff gets cleaned up/changed. The interior is in perfect shape cept a small rip in the bottom of the passenger seat but other than that its perfect. It has a nice alpine deck in it too. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - ScottyB - 09-26-2010 i don't know what it is with early 90's nissan clearcoat on bumpers. my maxima did the same thing front/rear. nice car, can't wait to see it all cleaned up. i think with some tires, performance pads, an exhaust and maybe some swaybars to start off you'd have a great little DD. from what i understand despite the cramped engine bay the overall design of the car is like a brick outhouse. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 09-26-2010 It has new tires on it. The exhaust actually sounds REALLY good for stock imo, ill eventually try to get one. I wanna get an intake and headers. the headers are like 300ish and they add 16 WHP. But yeah the car is so beautiful, I fell in love even more when I first saw it in person. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - ViPER1313 - 09-26-2010 caa337 Wrote:I'm gonna pressure wash the engine and engine bay. Please.....no. If you are wondering "why did he just reply Please.....no" just use Google. Soap + rags + elbow grease will end up with similar results minus the chance of water ruining your coil packs, corroding your electrical connections, etc..... Otherwise - looks like a really nice car. Hope it treats you well. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 09-26-2010 Well my dad has been doing it for years and never had a problem. I just want the visible stuff clean anyway. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - Jake - 09-26-2010 caa337 Wrote:Well my dad has been doing it for years and never had a problem. I just want the visible stuff clean anyway. My mom jumped out of airplanes and drove a drag car down the strip and never had a problem... just sayin  Get some Simple Green, rags and an old toothbrush and you can get the visible stuff nice and clean. I priced coil packs for a BMW I worked on and six of them would have cost ~$400. I'd rather take some time and not spray water everywhere if it means guaranteed not trashing a coil or something. Anyway! Clearcoat is no biggie, the Miata's rear bumper had peeling clear when I bought it. It's spread now and the top of the bumper is no longer clear'd, haha. Never got around to fixing it and I don't care too much, although if your dad said he'd take care of it, then go for it! Put some more (large!) pix up when you get a chance. Sounds like you got a good car though. Mod-wise, I would go handling before power. New tires are good to have, so that's one hurdle cleared already. Get some beefier sway bars and when the time comes for new brakes/rotors, get good ones (not the cheap shit from NAPA like I did) and flush the fluid... but burn off what's on there now and think of it as "free" to an extent. Congrats! PS: not kidding about mom. She did that stuff when she was our age. And all the Chevys she owned were Super Sports. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 09-26-2010 My dad is gonna change the oil and oil filter within the next few days. Stillen does sell sway bars and I could probably get them around 300. I want to get some aftermarket springs(with no drop cause its low already lol) eventually. This all will happen when I get the money so who knows when that will be. heres some really crappy pics(my sisters camera was being dumb in the garage, ill take good ones next time I go home.) ![]()
Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 10-16-2010 Okay so I finally got my sister to upload the pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't mind the wetness I had washed it as soon as I got home then took it out for a drive and hit 110 down my backroad, haha. I will be getting a new front lip sometime soon hopefully. I love the car and driving it is so much fun. Can't wait to get really proficient with driving a stick though. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2010 I'd keep the high speed driving to a track, especially since you're just learning the car. New cars are exciting and all but I'd hate to see that thing all wadded up
Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 10-18-2010 Its a straight stretch with no traffic. Thanks for the concern though. Don't plan on doing it often but I came home after not driving it for like 2 weeks and was excited

Won't ever do that in harrisonburg. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - ScottyB - 10-20-2010 i really like the blue. i never see many Z's in that color. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 10-20-2010 ScottyB Wrote:i really like the blue. i never see many Z's in that color. Thanks, yeah it really nice and there aren't many blue z's. Alot are white, red or black. Can't wait to drive it tomorrow! Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 11-21-2010 Changed the oil from whatever normal oil that was in it to Valvoline 10W-30 synthetic. Also changed the oil filter. Gonna wash/clay bar/scratch X/wax it tomorrow. Will put up pics after im done. Should come out nice and shiny Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 11-23-2010 So the scratch X 2.0 that came with my kit is the best stuff ever. I had sun fading on the top of my car before and after my Ttops and there were dirty/faded blemishes on parts of the hatch especially on the lid because of years of oily hands. The scratch X 2.0 cleared it all up and made it look nice and shiny. Got rid of scratches too and the top of my car looks like we practically painted it. I highly recommend it to anyone, My mom and dad couldn't believe how awesome it was. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 11-29-2010 ![]() Horrible pic I know, Once i go back home for xmas break I'll be taking some decent pics. You can see how much shinier it is. It looks so much better, thank you good wax! I hate how ugly the lip is though. Re: 1993 Nissan 300zx - caa337 - 01-08-2011 Got rid of the old busted lip.
