Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-21-2010 Alright, does anyone have an exact breakdown of classes, I looked and found something that told me kinda what class I would be in but nothing concrete. I have a full suspension but no engine mods, not even an intake. and no rear seat but the car has something built into it to fill the space. Its a 92 240sx with the ka24de Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Jake - 09-21-2010 Click here and download the 2010 National Solo Rules. They are sort of complicated to sort out... you would be in G-Stock if you were, well, stock. The suspension stuff kicks you over to Street Touring (ST) but rear seat removal means you no longer have "full interior" - anyone have further advice? Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-21-2010 SM because of rear seat removal, welcome to my predicament. ghey ass SCCA rules. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-21-2010 SM because of rear seat removal, welcome to my predicament. ghey ass SCCA rules. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-21-2010 So wait! I'm in the same class as DJ's M3? :-O Oh well, I just like beating my own times, so I am street modified? is there a street modified street tire class? so I am SM or SM... The dot dot dot being another letter? Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - JustinG - 09-21-2010 SM does have a street tire class, would simply be SM Tire, IIRC Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-21-2010 Oh aight cool, I'll have to look into that if I can get my car home after that event. Hey Justin, what part of richmond are you in? Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - caa337 - 09-21-2010 Ouch an older 240 in the same class as the M3? that's pretty dumb. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - JustinG - 09-21-2010 its not the car its the mods, removing the rear seats would throw a ford pinto into SM, assuming a pinto has a rear seat.... Sully I'm in the West End, closer to Regency Mall. Were you at the AutoX Sunday? I was the old guy in the black Jeep Cherokee, if we met, refresh my memory, im horrible with names. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-21-2010 Yes I was, that is how I know your name. hahaha I was co-driving ken's ralliart. I kept borrowing your helmet. I live in Midlothian, so I'll be down for the "richmond" race thats really in petersburg and I'm going to grab my car and helmet lol. My name is Matt Yea I knew the lack of rear seats was going to screw me, but I am more interested in my times and just being out there and driving rather than being in the top spot in my class. LOL ouch an older M3 in a class with slicks, allowed t0 swap engines, unlimited tire width and power all because I need to put in my rear seat that was replaced by an even heavier roll bar? Pay attention to classing early on before you start to mod is the big lesson here. I am classed for NASA and CDC, not SCCA, so I end up getting boned in SCCA events for PAX. Pick which organization suits you best. Perhaps at this event ill bring down the M3 and can have two co-drivers as ill probably be co-driving a friend's car. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-21-2010 Yea I'm not much better, because the rear seat is out but the last owner put some ugly ass rear seat delete thing made out of a piece of metal covered in some old worn lookin fabric :vomit: I think I am classed better for the NASA event in Oct but like I said, I'm really not lookin to be the fastest in class or PAX. Not yet anyways, once I get her turboed and some decent tires on her, then maybe I want my class to actually reflect my car closer Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Jake - 09-21-2010 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Pay attention to classing early on before you start to mod is the big lesson here. Or do what I did... mod what you like that is tasteful and functional, and end up where you end up. Granted, I'm all about having fun and don't care that I'm not very competitive based on class. I do agree that SCCA classing is complex (they all are to an extent) and throws you around. After looking at classing for the NASA-X, it seems far simpler. And DJ... having two co-drivers on the M3 would be awesome. Assuming the E30 is running and not blown up (it's a neglected 22-year-old Bimmer, stranger things have happened) then it will be open for 2 drivers as well. I'll have to ask Ray if more than 2 people can drive it. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - DavidM - 09-21-2010 Likely in for this as well. Good thing I'm buying new tires.... Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - balactm - 09-22-2010 hmmm. i'd like to enter this, but i don't know if my car will be back together. it would be really nice to get this car in a race finally. i had too many excuses previously, new axle, burning too much oil, etc. hmm. if i can get everything back together i will probably be there. Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Sully - 09-23-2010 I'll register if someone would like to help me get my car home the weekend after or that sunday. It's about a 2 hour 20 minute drive from JMU to my house, I might try and talk my dad into coming up for it and have him bring my car. I don't know what's going to happen yet. Anyone have any ideas? Re: BRR-SCCA Zoom-Zoom Challenge - Scott - 09-23-2010 Jake Wrote:. I'll have to ask Ray if more than 2 people can drive it. Yes, I had 3 people driving my Miata this past weekend, but we split it into 2 run groups. A good friend and I ran it in one run group and my wife ran the car in the next run group. |
