Spa is awesome, I highly recommend it to anyone... even if you don't have the vaguest interest in F1.

I plan on going next year. Bro-in-law moved to Brussels, only 1-1/2 hrs. away....

I strongly recommend renting a car, if you don't have access to one. There are trains that get kinda close to Spa, but none really anywhere near the track. There are buses, but I hear they're a royal pain in the ass. We stayed in Maastricht, Netherlands Saturday and Sunday night for the sake of ease (40 min drive) but you could do it from Brussels no problem.
