Matthew Sullivan - Sully - 09-08-2010

My name is Matt Sullivan (username: Sully). I am real excited about hopefully becoming part of the Madison Motorsports Family. I am a Freshman engineering major. My rides include a 2001 Ford F-150 on 37's, a 2007 Gsx-r 600, and a newly aquired 1992 Nissan 240SX Coupe. Too many mods to list on the truck but if you want to see some pics, check out my Facebook, can't figure out the link but I should be the only matt sullivan in the JMU Network.

Re: Matthew Sullivan - Jake - 09-08-2010

Great meeting you tonight Matt! Hope to see you out at some events soon, even just getting rides or spectating is a good start to things Big Grin

Couldn't find you on FB, if you get the image URL (right click the full size pic on FB and hit Copy Image Address) just paste it into a forum post and put around the URL.

Where the hell was that parking deck? I looked like everywhere around eagle/showker. I feel dumb.

Re: Matthew Sullivan - TorinoCobra070 - 09-08-2010

Welcome. Nice selection of vehicles. If you want to check out the autocross on the 19th I am sure we can find you a ride up to Verona.

Re: Matthew Sullivan - caa337 - 09-08-2010

I would love to come to the autocross too, If someone could give me a ride up there that would be cool.

Re: Matthew Sullivan - DavidM - 09-08-2010

Closer to the date we'll post up a meeting time. We'll all meet at Rockingham hall (right next to the Exxon on Port) and those of us without cars can ride down.

Yea though, I am definatley going to spectate the AutoX, and if I can, i am going to try and get my car driven up here by a friend for the weekend but as of now, I have to play it by year. A brief update on Matt's Emporium of Whips, from Jake's Visitor Parking Lot DeLuxe:

The F-150 is a riot to drive around. The two big subs behind the driver's seat will bump you around, as will the wheels/tires, lift, and 8 cylinders of fury. I drove it around town for five days and the gas gauge went from 3/4 to 1/4. No idea how many miles, but it took lotsa gallons of gas. Somewhere, Momma and Papa Polar Bear are mourning the loss of their entire extended family. You get lots of looks driving through campus. And anywhere else. Tri-Delts have no clue what you are driving but do recognize that it could eat their Jetta. Parking could be a Top Gear Challenge. It's fantastic.

Matt's Dad's Jeep Liberty is, well, not enjoyable. A Cherokee with heated seats would be preferable. It got 12 mpg. I drove it like twice, because I disliked it so much. Matt fortunately shares my distaste.

The 240. Never driven one of these! The pop-up lights usually pop up; if not, a flash of the high beams will do ya good. Something on the passenger side rattles when I shut the driver's door. The gauge lights are intermittent, the dash lights are like a JMU student at Friday classes - MIA. Regardless, the mechanical bits all work and it's pretty fun to drive around. The HUD works and projects an awesome digital speedometer on the road. There is a matching digital speedo in the gauge cluster. Everything else is analog. No, I don't get it either. Rain is not this car's best friend... in typical mad-tyte-240-d0rift0-action, the back end wants to step out everywhere. I find this amusing, since both of my cars lack the power for such tomfoolery. Oh, and the wipers should probably be replaced. Definitely a fun car - I see the appeal in them.

I would recommend housing vehicles from Matt's Emporium of Whips. Just ask the nice lady at the desk for something other than Jeep keys Wink

Re: Matthew Sullivan - Sully - 11-04-2010

Nice write up jake, unfortunatley, nissan thought it wise to not include lighting for their ac and heat controls haha. No idea why. The jeep is just a mystery in itself as to why anyone at chrysler thought that would be a good idea. Hopefully it will be out of the line up very soon, however I'm sure I won't get to drive the next car whenever I want. Haha

See, I've driven a few cars that aren't awful... Until you realize that someone deep in the bowels of corporate Company X (Jeep, here) had to say "yes, this is the best it can be. Build it!"

My dad is looking at new cars now. He is way to indecisive though. Got him to look at evo 10's but no dice. Same with sti's although he likes em both. He keeps leaning towards the sonata but I keep pushing him away. Might be looking at a Ford raptor though. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one.
