Goddamn EFI. - CaptainHenreh - 09-01-2004 I bet old muscle car folks never had this problem... Ok, so as a few of you know, my car's been running like complete shit, with a low idle, no power, and absolutely shitty fuel economy. I thought it was perhaps my throttle position sensor. I thought it was my coolant temperature sensor, or my coil sensor, or my fuel injectors, or every goddamn sensor that could possibly ever go bad on the entire car! I was destroying my brain, I memorized the FSM, and I asked everybody what it could possibly be!!! So I give up, and start thinking about putting the Camry on the road. So dad drives it, and told me to change my fuel filter (DUH! God, I'm such an idiot) so I went to Advance and bought a Purolator fuel filter for the much more fuel-thirsty 300ZX twin turbo. I installed it about 5 minutes ago, started 'er up, and she ran great! Idle is back where it was, no hesitation on throttle! HOOOOORAY! Then I pop the hood, to check for leaks. Oh yeah. There's a big one. My lower soft fuel hose is dryrotted, the upper had been replaced recently. Grr. Oh well, it's a simple problem. I just need about a foot of hose, and some new clamps. Then we'll see if it's really for sure fixed. Moral of the story? Hare today, goon tomorrow.[/b] - .RJ - 09-01-2004 Quite a bit of mung came out of my old filter, had about 60K on it. I replace them every year. - CaptainHenreh - 09-01-2004 I should check my fuel filter for mung. - .RJ - 09-01-2004 This week's fun was the distributor rotor - rough idle, loss of power in vtec. - Dave - 09-01-2004 .RJ Wrote:This week's fun was the distributor rotor - rough idle, loss of power in vtec.can't lose what you don't have 8) - Jewels - 09-01-2004 as someone who throughly enjoys riding in the 240 I am glad to see that it is fixed....well at least you know what's wrong with the goofy car... now you can sell the camry. I guess I will be helping to replace that hose huh.... oh well good times good times... - CaptainHenreh - 09-01-2004 I got hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose! 2 feet of fuel line, 2 band clamps: $3.49. Why can't all repairs be that cheap. I'll let you guys know what's up after school. - CaptainHenreh - 09-01-2004 What's up? My car still sucks. It still has a low idle, and it still has no power. Shit. - .RJ - 09-01-2004 Haha, dummy. Ignition? - CaptainHenreh - 09-01-2004 Probably not. I swapped out my wires, and examined my plugs. I doubt that ignition is the problem. However, I'm planning on removing the cap, just to see if the points are worn. - .RJ - 09-01-2004 Check the points and rotor. Check for busted vacuum lines? - Ginger - 09-01-2004 How much of this can you attribute to the toasted rings? - CaptainHenreh - 09-02-2004 Ordered a new throttle position sensor yesterday, picking it up after class. Anyone want to come out and help me install it? It's pretty simple, but requires removal of the throttle body, which I plan on cleaning with 2+2 Gum Cutter. (AKA: Dragon Spit) That shit is crazy. - Ginger - 09-02-2004 Might be down for Sunday.... *edit* or Saturday... I have no idea what the work schedule is like. Get back to you tommorow after 5. - CaptainHenreh - 09-02-2004 WAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOO MUTHERFUCKERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!!! Power is back, though not as much as I remember (probably due to my rotary-like compression numbers) and my idle is a little rough (most likely due to me not replacing the throttle body gasket) I don't want to get tooooooooo excited, but yeah, I think it's fixed. - Chris - 09-02-2004 sweet, i love when repairs actually work - KPWSerpiente - 09-03-2004 I was going to say o2 sensor but if you got it working then that is awesome. -T |
