Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - G.Irish - 07-26-2010 I really want to buy it but I know that I won't get anything done if I do so I'm going to hold off for a little bit. But I do want to hear what other people think of it and get my vicarious fix. I remember playing way too much Starcraft in college and I ended up uninstalling it. That was the last day I played Starcraft.
Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - CaptainHenreh - 07-26-2010 Maybe. Honestly, I was never all that good at RTS's. I never devoted enough to resource gathering, and was always caught with my pants down. But that didn't mean I didn't *enjoy* them...as long as I could cheat. So...we'll see. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - Apoc - 07-26-2010 I am a huge fan of RTS. Thoroughly unhappy with where Command & Conquer ended up, I might pick this up to satisfy my cravings. Of course I'm always behind the curve and will be out of town for most of August, so I doubt I'd play until mid-September. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - Mike - 07-26-2010 Yes. Not because I expect to like it, but because it's SC2. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - Apoc - 07-26-2010 but... but... you don't play non-console games any more. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - HAULN-SS - 07-26-2010 I was going to wait to see how rampant the korean domination is before I do. also i'll probably need a system upgrade Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - Mike - 07-26-2010 Apoc Wrote:but... but... you don't play non-console games any more. there are very few games made for the mac. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - CaptainHenreh - 07-26-2010 HAULN-SS Wrote:also i'll probably need a system upgrade Actually, you probably won't. SC2 should run just fine under anything purchased in the last 5 years or so. Also, the Kekekekekekekezergrush fools won't bother me, as I won't be playing online.
Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - HAULN-SS - 07-26-2010 I dunno. I bought a new laptop a couple years ago - dual core 2ghz or some such shit, with a 512MB shared memory graphics card, 4GB ram, and that thing can't run counterstrike for shit. A game that had been out ~7 years at the time of purchase. pretty unbelievable. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-26-2010 HAULN-SS Wrote:I dunno. I remember running counterstrike in high school no problem on a 64mb video card with like a gig at most of ram (think it was only 512) and it was 1.3ghz. Had no problem running counterstrike at all. Maybe....lag? I am considering picking it up just to see what its like, but I already dont have enough time to play my xbox, maybe pick it up in the "off" season of "racing" (or whatever you would call autox/never getting my ass to the track). I wouldnt pick it up for multiplayer either, I couldnt handle the guys that do it 24/7 with a game like that. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - G.Irish - 07-26-2010 Well SC2 has a matchmaking system now so you shouldn't get butt-raped by people who are way better than you (in theory). Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - HAULN-SS - 07-26-2010 If you aren't playing online, you aren't really playing. Glad to hear of the matchmaking system. I used to be really good at some RTS games (the Age of Empires set) but I was only marginal at SC, because I spent so much time with AOE. Also - I just realized I was talking about TF2, not original counterstrike. Original counterstrike ran ok, but did have a lower frame per second output than you'd expect. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - Mike - 07-26-2010 I used to get max fps out of an 800MHz machine circa 1999 when playing CS. Your laptop is broken. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - WRXtranceformed - 07-26-2010 You're damned right I'm buying this game, PROTOSS MOTHERSHIP BITCHES!!!! I'm taking it to the beach with me next week and I'm sessioning it in between the time that I'm drinking and at the beach. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - WRXtranceformed - 07-27-2010 Installing now, my girlfriend is going to be vying for attention tonight

Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2010 It's awesome. You NEED to have a good fast computer. My brother has a decent laptop with 4 gigs of RAM and Starcraft is crashing his computer every time he plays...even on the lowest graphics setting. I jacked up the settings on my graphics card and it's running pretty smooth with everything on "Ultra". Lots of cool things about the game. I really wish they had upgradeable heroes like Warcraft did, but the mercenaries are badass and I like the use of credits to make your guys stronger before you even start a mission. Protoss are badass in this game, they seemed to have equalized them a bit vs the zerg. Collossus > zerglings!!! Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-30-2010 Hmm tempted but I dont have a necessarily fast computer and $60 bucks just for the "terran campaign" goes against every instinct. My friend said you can install it with a "7 day pass key" from someone who has bought it, so ill probably use that when I get some time in the next few weeks. He said it was really badass game though so im excited to see. From everything I've read, it definitely is a full game's worth. Re: Anyone picking up Starcraft 2? - WRXtranceformed - 07-30-2010 You don't just play Terran levels, you play quite a bit of Protoss (and get to use all of their vehicles / units). I haven't played any Zerg levels yet, but I think I'm only about halfway through the game and the storyline is starting to lean that way. |
