NASA 4/17-4/18 - Ole - 04-19-2010 Thank you's go out to all that worked this past weekend. I had to change cars 2 times (once right before qualifying on Sunday) and I appreciate all the assistance that was given to me in doing so. Big thanks to the guys in Tech. It's nice to know that when you disrespect your fellow drivers by showing up with an illegal car, you will be caught. In the past, with some people, NASA was not known for catching some of these issues and I greatly appreciate all the effort you displayed this weekend. You all ROCK! Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Kaan - 04-19-2010 You are welcome! Over the last year I've worked with JJ to get some legitimate impounds. Its a logistical nightmare at times. NASA is the new kid on the block... we dont have access to in ground scales at every track, we dont have a dozen tech guys to oversee every single car, and we really are a traveling show. Summit Point just doesnt always have space adequate for what I would like. Even VIR events can get so packed it hard to police random people from parking where they shouldnt be. Another nightmare for me is figuring out ways to cheat and what to check for on the various cars. I dont impound just SMs E30s, GTS, AI, CMC, PTE, etc Hell, there are multiple events every year where I try to get EVERY single car to come across the scales in that weekend. Thats a challenge in itself. My goal for making every car come across the scales to introduce ALL RACERS to impounds some of the slow guys will never see an impound, but its part of racing and its also an effort of mine to educate all the racers that the race isnt over until you are released from an impound. Im currently pushing for one change at the national level a sticker with the required minimum weight on the car. 944 Cup does this it helps. I dont have to run around to verify weights I have 30 minutes to hold cars and/or validate results that doesnt leave me much time to actually roll all the cars, and verify weights, and then shake the cars down. I follow the rules to the letter 1lb is 1lb as I proved this year. Ill happily continue to gather intel from various sources but remember you can always protest someone too! ![]() On a side note: Ill need helpers in tech for hyperfest any students want to learn the craft? Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Ole - 04-19-2010 I hope my pst didn't coma across the wrong way, I thoroughly appreciate the effort and the results you have given over the past few years. I questioned the 1lb at VIR and you proved to me you were correct and I stood by your finding. I appreciate that stuff even when I am the one out of compliance. You guys in tech, registration, working corners and elsewhere do a fantastic job! Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Kaan - 04-19-2010 you didnt come across the wrong way... i just wanted you and other people to realize what we have to work with. plus i had to put in the plug for hyperfest help... get some things off my chest a little... you know... blab on the internet. I'm friends with a lot of racers but they all know i can be a huge jerk in the tech shed, i never stand down from my side of the argument, and after i'm done DQing them... i'll still joke and be cool with them. if 1lb doesnt make a difference... why couldnt that person have been 1lb over weight? I realize its "spec" racing... but there is NO NEED to cut things that close. if they feel they need to cut it that close... they need to work on their driving skillz I've DQed the Event Director and NASA MA boss man Chris Cobetto for 3lbs... anyone is fair game in my book! Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - JustinG - 04-19-2010 Kaan I think I'm helpin you and rex at hyperfest. Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Jewels - 04-19-2010 white97dsm Wrote:Kaan I think I'm helpin you and rex at hyperfest. Correction: You are helping Rex at Hyperfest. Rex has been Cobetto's bitch for the last like 2 years. He needs help, he picked you. Laura agreed to keep him happy. Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - .RJ - 04-19-2010 when is hyperfizzlerizzle? Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - JustinG - 04-19-2010 June 19 Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Kaan - 04-19-2010 RJ in the tech shed? what? Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - JustinG - 04-19-2010 Moonbounce? Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - .RJ - 04-19-2010 Bring $7.... Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Kaan - 04-19-2010 he'll have a camera ready and be taking pics... i think i broke him the last time he was pushing cars
Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - .RJ - 04-19-2010 Hmmm, I might have to make an appearance

Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - .RJ - 04-19-2010 Its "mancation" Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Apoc - 04-19-2010 Not when it's with Ginger in spandex, it isn't. Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - .RJ - 04-19-2010 Yes, 4 dudes with shaved legs in spandex on a mancation is a little (ok a lot) gay. I'm ok with this. Re: NASA 4/17-4/18 - Kaan - 04-19-2010 Ole... I know you weren't bashing me... I try to be 100% fair. Also, I encourage racers to tell me what to look for... Like I said before, I can't know everything about every car. If anyone has ideas... Let me know! I'm thinking about building a war chest of tools to bring to hyperfest to check lots of things.
