Brakes on an '06 Buick LaCrosse - Sijray21 - 04-15-2010 Hey Guys/Gals, I had a quick question for ideas on an issue that my girlfriend is having with her car: When she is making a hard right turn at lower speeds and applying the brakes, the pedal goes to the floor and makes a shuddering sound. This doesn't happen when she turns left. Sometimes the ABS light is activated as well as another light (i'm guessing the check-engine light). per my request, she restarted the car and the lights go away every time. I'm going to drive the car as soon as i get a chance to, but just throwing this out there to try and get ideas. So far i've come up with a few possibilities: 1) ABS sensor wire is losing connection to one of the wheels (from a Buick forum i found). I looked and they appear to be fine. 2) Low fluid or pad life. I checked them out as well and the pads have decent life left and the fluid is a fair-amount below the Max level (thought adding more to the max would resolve this). 3) ABS module f-ing up and possibly needing to be replaced. Any other thoughts? I'm going to try topping off the brake fluid and seeing if that makes a difference and then i'm considering a brake fluid flush :dunno: Re: Brakes on an '06 Buick LaCrosse - Dave - 04-15-2010 It sounds to me like something weird going on in the ABS. Sounds like a sensor is triggering something at right-hand turns, which is then opening a valve somewhere that has some air/nasty fluid in it (hence pedal to floor). Fix the sensor and problem solved (hypothetically). If sensor is good, I'd think it's something in the ABS module. First thing i would do would be to flush the brake fluid and see if that helps anything... |
