My hatch is for sale - Mike - 03-26-2010

April 2011 UPDATE
----
3500.

Only has one Sparco Evo now.
Suspension is now brand new Koni Yellows and Eibach Lowering Springs.
Has a dead battery, but it's under warranty.
No spare wheels.
No front lip.

Tell your friends. Fast, economical, and reliable way to get on track.

If someone could cross-post on Nasaforums, I'd appreciate it.

---

Never thought I'd sell her, but life is an interesting thing... Asking $6500 with EVERYTHING included (new-in-box shocks and springs, spare wheels, spare r-comps). Will part a few things out if you don't want them (seats, possibly rollbar, wheels) and adjust price accordingly.

Located in DC area.

Note: Photos aren't current. A few things have changed since they were taken, but the car looks more or less the same. Changes are noted in text below.

1993 Honda Civic CX
192k on chassis, clean title, I've owned for the past 8 years and turned every bolt on it [I think that's a good thing?]

Engine:
B18B1 w/ 120k miles w/ 123hp/118tq to wheels at dyno less than 2k miles ago (calculates to a slight increase over stock). Gets 30mpg highway, 23 city. Could probably use a new O2 sensor (complete guess based on gas mileage), which I wil include in sale.
ITR trans w/ 10k miles. Redline fluid in it. Has expected 2nd gear "toughness" when cold, but I typically skip it; when paired with this engine it's really a useless gear unless you're drag racing, in which case your fluid will be warm, but then you wouldn't buy in the first place....
Exedy organic clutch has 7k on it.
Exedy lightweight flywheel has 7k on it.
Timing belt and water pump have 35k miles on them.
Thermostat has 3k miles on it.
Distributor is fine, but I have a new spare that will come with car
Cold idle isn't great, but isn't awful. Replaced IACV with a less used one not long ago. Manually idle it for 15 seconds when starting in extreme cold, and she runs perfectly.
Plugs and wires have less than 5k on them (NGK).
Valve cover gasket has a slight leak, but not even worth replacing. Spare will come with car.
Koyo full-length aluminum radiator w/ "bling" aluminum lower mounts, and ghetto-fab upper mounts.
Top Fuel "whale penis" intake w/ K&N cone filter.
2.5" mandrel bent exhaust w/ 20" resonator to b-pipe, ghetto b-pipe, 2.5" in/out magnaflow oval. Small leak at b-pipe connection, but b-pipe should be refabbed anyway. SOUNDS GREAT.
Stock header, but DC-Sports 4-1 can be included.
No leaks, runs great, and always has.

Chassis:
~2150lbs.
Wheel bearings are all less than 5k miles old.
Axles are healthy.
Important balljoints and bushings have been replaced in last 10k miles.
Buddy Club Racing spec dampers w/ 750f/600r eibach springs, but I think one shock is blown. Have 7 top mounts, 4 brand-new. Have 4 new-in-box Koni Sports (yellow) and Eibach Sportlines I can include w/ sale depending on price.
Skunk2 front adjustable [camber] front a-arms.
Fastbrakes 11" front brake kit w/ Goodridge stainless steel lines.
Integra rear disc brakes.
Brake discs are all in great shape. New-in-box spare fronts will come with car.
Brake pads are all OEM-style w/ less than 1k miles on them. Many boxes of various types of used race pads will be included.
1991 Civic EX sedan 15/16" master cylinder (best option w/ this setup), with very few miles.
Function 7 rear lower control arms (bling!).

Interior:
ITR shift knob.
Cluster w/ tach.
Black interior minus a few parts I've never replaced (door handles, glovebox).
Carpet is cut at back seats.
Sparco Evo driver and passenger seats.
Mugen pedal covers (bling!).
Broadway mirror.
Autopower Race rollbar (bolted).
Red 5-point harnesses for driver and passenger.
OEM belt for driver.
Rear is stripped of plastic and seat, but have plastics and will include in sale. Was working on cleaning/sanding the rear and coating in truck-bed liner.
Momo leather steering wheel [uninstalled (for inspection)].

Exterior:
CF duckbill spoiler in bad shape.
Brand new front windshield.
Body in pretty good shape:
-- small surface rust above driver's rear wheel. Was repaired once nearly a decade ago, and hasn't grown any bigger than a nickel.
-- front bumper could use a respray.
-- no dents, light dings for a 17 year old car.
Benen front and rear tow hooks (bling!).
Amber corner lights.
Cheap HIDs (work amazingly).
Uninstalled Spoon-style front lip.

ICE:
Alpine MP3 CD player.
Pretty good 6.5" door speakers.
Viper alarm w/ proximity and backup battery.

Wheels/tires:
Rota Group N, 15x7 w/ Falken Ziex 912 tires w/ lots of tread.
Team Dynamics 15x7 w/ bald R-comps can be included, as can some Hankook r-comps with life.

So wait.....you mean.....track santa isn't real?

Re: My hatch is for sale - Mike - 03-26-2010

He's plenty real, but he's got a terminal illness, and will be dead soon. Besides, who said he had to drive at the track?

Re: My hatch is for sale - .RJ - 03-26-2010

Re: My hatch is for sale - Mike - 04-09-2010

So I'll be pulling the Buddy Club shocks as the one was definitely blown and they'll be replaced with Koni Yellows and Eibach Sportlines. For now, all extras are still available, but I'm slowly selling all that crap separately. As I do, price will reduce.

Asking 6k now.

10x faster than higher priced Miatas. 10x!

Re: My hatch is for sale - Ole - 04-10-2010

Lots of good quality track/race cars for sale here. What the heck is going on. Are they giving out pussypills at JMU? Do I have to tell my niece to go to Tech? (you should see my niece).

Re: My hatch is for sale - Mike - 04-11-2010

Re: My hatch is for sale - HAULN-SS - 04-07-2011

you know if you go get the battery replaced, that's one less thing you have to list in the negative category.

Re: My hatch is for sale - Mike - 04-07-2011

i will do it in the next few days, but this is as the car sits this moment.

Don't make the mistake of track-proofing your car over the next 8 years using the break and replace method like I have. If you're serious about getting a track/autocross car do yourself a favor and buy a built car.

If you're used to driving AWD I don't think FWD is a huge stretch, especially one with LSD.
Do it. You won't.
