Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - G.Irish - 03-12-2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk7iKvnUb1w&feature=player_embedded I don't know if this was a render dump or if it had actually gameplay footage in it. If there's actually gameplay in there it is pretty impressive that they all but eliminated aliasing. It also looks like the way cars' suspension reacts is more realistic. Don't know if I would buy a PS3 to get this though. After what, about 4 or 5 years in development I've got to admit my interest in this game has waned quite a bit. Sometimes it seems like it will join Duke Nukem Forever and Dr. Dre's Detox as things that will never come out. Hopefully it'll be out by the end of 2010 though. Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - Goodspeed - 03-12-2010 Yawn. I bet the cars will still sound like this
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - WRXtranceformed - 03-12-2010 Yawn. - Forza 3 players Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - Evan - 03-12-2010 horray for fanbois ![]() The graphics are sick but if its still a car collecting game I wont spend much time with it. Good tracks and good physics are what make a racing game, and sadly there are zero console games that do that so far. Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - G.Irish - 03-12-2010 Yeah I have to wonder how much the physics model improved if they're putting something like 800 or 1000 cars. With that many cars it seems like it would be hard to get the handling dialed in for each car. Im still curious to see how this whole real-life data acquisition overlay system is supposed to work. Could be badass or could be a totally worthless gimmick. Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - Evan - 03-12-2010 the demo has a pretty good handling physics model. feels a little like GTR but without the push and more weight transfer. actually has some lift throttle oversteer too Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - BLINGMW - 03-12-2010 can't be GT, I saw a car get damaged! hock:
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - Mike - 03-13-2010 at this point, if this isn't far and away the best driving "game" ever made, it'll be a failure. Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - JustinG - 03-13-2010 meh......but I never skeeted all over the previous GTs either so, I dunno. Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - .RJ - 03-13-2010 It will still not be as good as F355 challenge
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - BLINGMW - 03-14-2010 .RJ Wrote:It will still not be as good as F355 challenge yeah, but that only had that one old car! GT will be 800x better! Re: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer - SlimKlim - 03-15-2010 Whats with all the Mercedes porn? They coulda picked a better cover car. Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - G.Irish - 11-12-2010 So the new release date is November 24th. What are the odds that it will get delayed yet again? Who's gonna buy this on launch day? I guess I'll use this as an excuse to finally get a PS3, don't know if I'll go for it on launch day. Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - Evan - 11-12-2010 Ill probably pick it up sometime before christmas. hopefully some of you donkeys will buy it so i have somebody to race online :p Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - Goodspeed - 11-12-2010 You know, I saw some leaked footage of this before Sony killed it on the 'tubes, and it looked pretty damn good. As in, rain slowly creeping up the windshield in a wet race good, with realistically low visibility to boot. Still can't care enough to fork over 400+ for the console and game. Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - WRXtranceformed - 11-12-2010 I just can't see it being that much better than Forza in terms of game playability and longevity. I get bored of racing games pretty quickly. Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - xvxax - 11-12-2010 Do y'all use steering wheels and pedal sets with this or what? If so, which work well and which don't? Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - BLINGMW - 11-12-2010 G.Irish Wrote:So the new release date is November 24th. What are the odds that it will get delayed yet again? No. Come on. ~$350 to play a racing game you've played before? I mean, if you're willing to spend that much on a racing game, come play iRacing! Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - G.Irish - 11-12-2010 Eh, you do have a point there. I'm kind of struggling with justifying purchasing a PS3 when there's really only one other exclusive game I want to play on it (MGS4). I dunno, maybe I'll try both iRacing and GT5 and see how it goes. I hate iRacing's pricing model though. I am very much opposed to the software as a service model for games. At least if/when I get tired of GT5 I can sell it and only be out of $30 at the most. Re: Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread - BLINGMW - 11-12-2010 G.Irish Wrote:I am very much opposed to the software as a service model for games It really makes sense though when you see how much they continue to develop and police it. It really is a "service" more than a game. Which is good IMHO, because any time they stop doing a good job, I can stop paying. If they had to make you pay upfront, I imagine it'd be like $200. Then if I lost interest 6mo later, or they stopped developing, I'm out $200. *of course, if you had joined two weeks ago, you'd be out a whole $12.... |
