My new blingin exhaust... - JackoliciousLegs - 08-27-2004 So me and CapHen worked the whole day on my car today. What did we do, you might ask? Well, we added a Racing Beat downpipe and a presilencer. We also performed the JDM ABS Delete option. (The ABS was already bypassed, but the controller was still in there.) In the process, we took out a lot of heatshielding around the turbo. Now my engine bay looks a lot emptier on the left side! I can see the backside of the turbo and the shiny new pipe. What was the result of this venture? Probly a LARGE amount of power. People with just RB full exhaust have put down ~210-215whp. (RB claims 260 at the crank but that's with the associated 12psi boost creep) I can say that it feels faster for SURE. It's a little louder, and a lot smellier (can even shoot a flame or two ). It runs at 7-9 psi, so I'm still under stock. When I get my intake (that I already ordered), I'll add an FD fuel pump, and a MBC. After that, I'll be set at 10psi, pushing 220+whp, and I'll start focusing on suspension... Pics to come shortly. - JackoliciousLegs - 08-27-2004 Forgot -with the heatshielding off, you can now hear a nice whizz from the turbo ![]() -it revs SOOO fast now... i have to be careful.... -it sounds REAL mean - CaptainHenreh - 08-27-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:Forgot I still say we can fab a short dump for your wastegate. I swear that your downpipe/wastegate design is what's causing your boost creep. Drill a hole in that blockoff plate over the wastegate, weld or bolt a short pipe there, and a garan-damn-tee your creep problems will be 100% officially over. And it'll be loud as fuck off-boost. WEEEEEEEEE!!! Oh, and when Jack says we "removed a little heat shielding" what he really means is that we smacked, banged, mangled, chisled, gripped, ripped, and all around destroyed some heat shielding that was in our damned way. I'm pretty sure that "Removing the heat shielding" should not normally involve 2 hammers, a chisel, dremel tool (with three cutting wheels) and 3 hours. - ScottyB - 08-27-2004 sounds like you guys had some fun, i can't wait to hear your car jack! the fact that you guys chiseled metal out of the engine bay is badass, too. - navin - 08-27-2004 thought u were trying to sell the car again? - Feersty - 08-27-2004 What about heat issues in the engine compartment? - CaptainHenreh - 08-27-2004 It was old and busted. I doubt it was doing much. Also, we left the turbo shielding on. Just removed the downpipe shielding. - KPWSerpiente - 08-27-2004 Where was my invite. -T |
